ROWLANDS Castle amateur Billy McKenzie was the top Hampshire performer at regional qualifying for the Open Championship.
McKenzie shot 67 to finish in a tie for first place at Ferndown - one of 14 courses playing host to the initial round of qualifiers.
McKenzie now progresses to the final stage, which will take place on July 3, with 288 golfers competing for 12 spots in next month's major championship.
South Winchester's Martin LeMesurier will join him, after posting 68 at Ferndown.
At Hankley Common, Liphook's James Foster and Hayling amateur Jamie Mist both advanced, with scores of 71 and 72 respectively.
Botley Park amateur Dan Dawson is second reserve, after posting a 69 at Ferndown.
