South Africa's Ernie Els has won the 141st Open Championship at Royal Lytham and St Annes.
The 42-year-old's seven under clubhouse total proved too mucch for overnight leader Adam Scott who suffered a meltdown over the final four holes to fall from -10 to six under and a heartbreaking second place.
Tiger Woods tied for third with countryman Brandt Snedeker on three under, while Luke Donald and Graeme McDowell were a shot further back in fifth
