Ellis into English Amateur semi finals

Meon Valley teenager Harry Ellis has reached the semi-finals of the English Amateur Championship.

The Hampshire ace beat England international Seb Crookall-Nixon (Workington) in the last eight of the knockout rounds at Silloth-on-Solway.

The 2up victory for Ellis means he advances to face Wiltshire's Jordan Smith (Bowood) this afternoon for a place in tomorrow's final.

While England Under 16 cap Ellis progressed, there was disappointment for Corhampton's Neil Raymond.

The reigning Brabazon Trophy champion lost by one hole to to Henry Tomlinson, of Royal Lytham & St Annes, in his quarter final.
