Justin Rose again goes in search of his first major title when he tees it up in the US PGA Championship at Kiawah Island this week.

The former North Hants member, left, has enjoyed a fine season and is one of the favourites for the final big crown of the year.

Rose displayed some good form in last week’s World Golf Championships Bridgestone Invitational, at Firestone Country Club, in Ohio, posting a score of eight-under-par to give him a share of fifth place.

Rose has experienced a mixed set of results so far in this year’s major championships.

He started off well, finishing in a tie for eighth at the Masters, before recording a respectable joint 21st at the US Open.

But he did not enjoy any success at the Open Championship, missing the cut despite high hopes going into the event.

A strong effort in South Carolina this week could further strengthen his grip on the leading spot in the European Tour’s Race to Dubai rankings.

Rose will also hope to continue a run of good form as he prepares for next month’s Ryder Cup.

The 32-year-old is effectively assured a place in captain Jose Maria Olazabal’s team, which will be officially confirmed later this month.
