SAINTS directors have not been officially told they have until Monday to resign - or face an EGM call to remove them.
Reports claim that former chairmen Rupert Lowe and Michael Wilde are ready to call an EGM in three days time unless the current board resign.
The Saints PLC board comprising of Leon Crouch, Lee Hoos, Patrick Trant, Keith Wiseman and David Jones met yesterday for their montly get-together.
It is not believed they are ready to tend their resignations before Monday.
It is claimed that Lowe and Wilde would only want Jones to stay of the current PLC board.
A high-level Saints source told the Echo today: "The ball is in Rupert's court.

"We haven't heard anything this week but we're told he is on holiday.
"I would guess we will hear early next week.
"Rupert Lowe and Michael Wilde would be an alliance of failures - the only thing that could make a real difference to the club is something coming in and buying the whole club, turning it private, and making money available to strengthen the team.
"The team can only be made better with money being made available to the manager.
"The only thing you could say is that Lowe and Wilde are the two men who have done the most damage to the club in recent years, so it's only right they should try and mend that damage!"

Excellent news.Rupert is the only one who can take the pressure of running this club with any sort of business sense.Leon could only provide a statue at the second attempt.Going by what Lawrie has done since he returned Rupert was right not to have him at the club during his first reign. This is the man to get us back in the championship next season, as Leon and Trant has almost surely taken us down. However i have still renewed my season ticket as we all must.

Bad news.
Yet again, on Friday pm before a big match we hear yet more about what is going on behind the scenes.
Can't this be sorted out, one way or another, after the close season? It's not as if the business men can have ANY positive effect on what is happening on the pitch at this stage of the season.

It would seem that every effort is being made to discrdit a great club, demoralise the players and while this debacle carries on,no thought or consideration is given to the people who actually finance the club, the supporters.Let somebody with some acumen for steadying this sinking ship save the crew and get rid of the officers.I have followed Saints since queueing to watch them during the war when in the Southern Division, from Alfie Roles,Ted Bates ,Bill Ellerington and Eric Day to name a few and it saddens me to see these people 'wringing' the the respect this club has enjoyed.

Neither Lowe, Wilde or Crouch are fit to run this club. To say that Lowe is the only one with any sort of business sense, when his previous experience was running a rather small retirement homes outfit, whilst ignoring that Wilde and Trant ran rather larger construction companies and Crouch ran a large Engineering Group, shows in which camp the poster above sits and also that he knows little which gains his comments much validity. All three of the major shareholders should sell up their entire shareholdings and get out of our club at the earliest opportunity. I am heartily fed up of their inflated egos and constant bickering.

How? bearing in mind that Lowe is on holiday.....
The source is once again a high level Saints insider. Why are they putting this out again? Same goes for the 'deluded' article yesterday. Also Crouch's use of the statue unveiling to launch an attack on his rivals.
Just one of the many reasons that Crouch and the current board are not fit to run the Plc or club.

Perfect timing again Rupert - why don't you just Eff Off!!!! You got Saints relegated once and you're obviously trying to do it again - why can't you wait until the end of the season!? The fact is that it was you who set up the club in such a manner to make it virtually impossible for any investor to but into the football club without taking over the whole business including your retirement home business. So do us all a favour please and b*gger off once and for all.

As expected the bitter power struggle goes on.
Why can't they see the damage that they are inflicting on our club?.
Someone might have more buisness sense than the other but they all have failed to see what we have witnessed on the pitch for the last 5 years, instead concentrating on their ego's.
This once proud club continues to spiral down and has ended up like the other half dozen ex premier league sides that are floudering at our level.
I continue to support and will do for eternity but on thing for sure. No chairmen in the team photo PLEASE !.

It says that the directors have [bold]not[/bold] been told they have until Monday to resign. This means that Lowe cannot be blamed for the timing of this!
Maybe he would like to wait til the end of the season, but the it's the 'high level Saints insiders' that are playing this out in the press.
Oh, and if Lowe was the one who got us relegated (you are blaming him for actions on the pitch/results/etc) then surely he single-handedly kept us up for 9 years, got us to the FA cup final, and provided some great entertainment and happy memories.
Or does he get no credit for the good and all the blame for the bad?

[bold]bold[/bold] This chap Lowe owns about 6% of the shares, today worth £600 thousand, but acts and talks as though he owns the whole of the club.
When he was with us before he certainly acted as though it is HIS club, setting himself up as chairman and chief executive and operating without any need to perform to the sort of targets that most of us do every day at work.
He is obviously totally uncaring of the opinions of all the fans who wanted the back of him two years ago and now is hell bent on coming in again because he can't find another career.
Can anyone explain to me how this will help to earn us points to stay up or to get us the new finance we desperately need?

we don't need lowe he put the club in this position by not giving G.S the players he wanted after cup final,he is no good at running a football club
the fans will leave here comes Div 2 or blue square league.

Stand up if u hate rupert lowe!!!
Stand up if u hate rupert lowe!!!
I sense a negative atmosphere returning to the club...
We should go into administration so that the pr!cks in suits that are ruining this club lose all their shares and we can get someone running the club who both cares and has the financial resources!

It just goes to show you the pig headedness of this man. He has tougher skin than a Rhino. How Lowe can even consider walking back through the doors after not spending the money when he should have done after the cup final? He had a big chance to take this club a long way at that point, but blew it.
(He thought our youth would keep us up the following season so decided to save his coffers!!!) The only reason he is coming back is to try and save his own share price from going down the pan if we are relegated. If Saints do go down and go into administration the only good thing to come out of that will be that Pompous ar****e losing his investment!!!
As for Wilde, you are two faced snake like reptile that should slither back to the swamp that you undoubtedly come from!!!!

I always remember when Wilde was wanting to get rid of Rupert Lowe. I knew this was a bad move, and always felt Rupert did his best. Look what he achieved with Saints. We are in this position because Wilde allowed a manager to spend £7 million on awful players.

Typical Lowe...only cares about himself and getting himself back in the spot light again so he can pallie up with all the FA bigwigs. The timing is irrelevant to him but could be very damaging to Saints survival chances. My hat goes off to Crouch because he has been a stand up guy who has done everything for the club as a fan or it rather than other motives. I hope he is the one to take us to the brink of a big time investment and not Lowe! We didn't forgive and forget Hoddle and we will not forgive and forget Lowe!

The final nail.
The club is near death as a result of these two morons. Wilde is the biggest disappointment. We knew Lowe was an egocentric bag of wind, and he is responsible for starting the rapid decent from respected club in the Prem to laughing stock headed for League 1. I was very happy to see the back of him.
At the time, I was also very happy to see Wilde come in. He said all the right things. Heck, he even had a manifesto to prove that he meant it! Boy were we wrong. Talk about a bag of wind - all words, no actions.
And these two "messiahs" are coming back to kill off what remains of our once proud club.
R.I.P. Saints, you were loved.

I think Rupert and Mike have now reconcilled their differences, and are ready to become a united force to drive Saints back to the Premiership.
Mistakes have been made, but in Lowe and Wilde you have two of the most passionate fans our club has ever known, and two jolly nice blokes to boot.

After reading this twice, I conclude that someone at The Echo had been tipped off that Lowe and Wilde were looking to call an EGM on Monday and The Echo went to the Saints Board for clarification.
Look at the language used in the piece; "Reports claim that Lowe and Wilde are ready to call an EGM..."
Then it goes on to say "A high-level Saints source told the Echo today: "The ball is in Rupert's court. We have not heard anything this week".
This implies as I state above. Echo hears something and asks Saints for a response.
So to those saying that Crouch is playing this out in the Press, read it again as I think you are completely wrong. In fact, if the Echo had heard such a rumour, then it is more likely to have come from the Lowe/Wilde camp firstly judging by the way the piece reads.
And in this day of modern communications, what's the chances of their being a GSM signal or internet cafe where Rupert is on holiday?!
What should be happening here is someone from the Club speaking with the Echo and asking that they do not run such a dead-end story the wrong side of an important game. I find it hard to see that Saints sanctioned this story as there is nothing to gain.

Why doesn't Rupert Lowe become a politician.
He could then place his nose in the trough with all the other M.P's and make his fortune out of the allowances they are allowed to make at the tax payers expence.
He probably does not have any knowledge about politics in the same light as he knows sweet f.a. about football but he certainly knows how to waste money and cream off money for his own purposes.
For those of you who disbelieve this statement you should visit the training ground and view the abuse of funding carried out in the days of Clive Woodward dear old Ruperts mate.
Do not allow this man any power in this club again or we will be playing Eastleigh within 5 years.

Saintmarc/Michael Wilde.
I have supported Saints since 1954. You were right in removing the Lowe regime, however things didn't move forward. I was surprised at your resignation but that is now history.
Supporters are not fools, a few diehards will support you but the majority have lost any respect for the three major shareholders. If you think you can avoid civil war think again.
All three of you should swallow your egos, accept each other on the board and put all of the shares controlled by you up for sale.
This club doesn't belong to you despite your shareholding. If a successful boycott was engineered by the supporters it would put the club in administration. We dont want you, just sell up and go.

I think I just saw the most amusing post ever. Lowe and Wilde as passionate fans? Again......how many games did Rupert attend this year? Ditto Wilde. Would love to see a photo since 2005 of Lowe in a Saints Shirt, or in his case with a Saints Crevat and Cufflink set on more likely, but same point.
Wilde is doing this because he hates Crouch, Lowe because he got WAY overexcited about the 6% of the club he owns (which he never actually paid anything for) when he used his proxy to block the sale of the club and now his pals want to know why they didn't sell at 60-odd pence less than a year ago.
Laughable? Deplorable? Actually just sad. Lowe and Wilde will have responsibilities as Directors they never had as parasitic shareholders, this may be the only saving grace here.
Now for the BIGGEST question.....Lowe and Wilde back.....how much money in to the club does that equal? How many new players, improvements......oh that's right. ZERO.
Hope I can find that old Lowe Out banner.

But at Saints they take it in turns to get to the top and knock each other off and still we don't move forward as a result of this. I can't see Crouch leaving it Lowe and Wilde gets back in...so we are no better off. Get rid and start again..but don't let Lowe and Wilde back!

If Rupert Lowe get his hands on SFC once again, it beggars belief. He is the route cause of all the problems this once great club now has. I just hope and pray Crouch can stop him.Once again Lowe times it just before an important game against Cardiff.

Yeh the last comment pretty much sums it up, he is attempting to come back as matter of arrogance and defiance which isn't in the clubs intrests what-so-ever.
BUT if he comes back with a wealthy investor in tow it's going to be difficult to turn him away, otherwise yes it's just another delay/twist that we don't need.
Pearson, Davies, John, our youth system, the stadium, the history, facilities, the fans (in no particular order) are the strong points of this club, other than that we need sorting out.

Sadly I was one of the 'sheep' who bleated for Ruperts head. Like all the other Ranters I got it wrong, and I am sorry for my actions. In hindsight we would not be in such a sorry state if we had supported the management and not created a gap for inexperienced opportunist directors to oust the resident experienced team The club is in deep trouble and those who continue to rant without offering real and constructive solutions are not real supporters.Would all remaining Ranters please go down the road to Pompey where the lunatic fringe will be welcomed and will feel at home.
Rupert welcome back we need you and your skills and experience. You will not be hounded out again. Most of us have learned a hard lesson. Ignore the very few lunatics and get on with keeping us in the Chamionship and returning us to the Premiership as soon as possible.
Real Saints Fans be careful our ranks have been infiltrated by Pompey agents who continue to try to spread mistrust and disharmony. Everytime you now see a rant remember a Pompey third columnist wiil be behind it.

Once again, we the supporters are forced to witness another soap opera in the board room as rumours and speculation are grasped by the echo and escalated into headline news at the worst possible time.!!!
I am appalled by the echo which seems hell bent on manipulating every word and quotation to the detriment of our football club. The paper seems to be enjoying every sad twist and turn for which I will never forgive them.
Leon is bitter because two thirds of the love triangle are now in bed against him! Big Deal, he went to bed with Wilde in the first place and what goes around comes around.
The three main actors in the Saints plot are all as bad as each other. Rupert sent us down by failing to deliver in our hour of need. Wilde lied and lied to get his 15 minutes of fame. Leon got his celebrity status on the cheap and sorry, a statue of Ted Bates is not enough to get the accolades he seems to think he deserves. Shame on the echo, shame on Lowe, shame on Wilde and shame on Crouch.
The time has come for everyone to get behind Pearson and the Saints. We have 6 games to save our collective future. If we get relegated we will go into administration and start next year in Div 1 with minus 10 points from which we will never recover. It is unthinkable and unacceptable. Every one who seriously supports the Saints should now do everything they can to support the team, sing louder than ever before, scream and shout in support for every minute of the 6 remaining games to give the team the best possible chance to stay in the Championship and hopefully, attract investment for long term survival.
My plea to the Echo and the terrible trio is please stop the bickering, cut out your selfish objectives, do not attend the 6 remaining matches, leave us alone to fight our critical battle because you are no good to us. Go away, so we, the real Saints fans, can pull together and really get behind the boys in their hour of need.
Come on you Reds, we can do it!!!!

Northam Ranter I have never read so much utter B.S! You are obviously R.L posting on this site to create more of your B.S spin!
As for your the claim that R.L has Skills & Experience? Ranter you are talking absolute ****!!! R.L Did nothing (NOTHING) but line his own pockets with the reverse take over of Saints, that robbed genuine share holders of their inheritance and also lost us Stoneham. Southampton City Council sorted St Mary's, Not Lowe! All he hd to do was organise the friggin Mortgage (which is crippling us right now)
Lowe should f@CK OFF & DIE!! We do not want you EVER!!!

SAD TO SAY,BUT ANY FANS OR 'SUPPORTER GROUPS' WHO COULD'N'T ACCEPT HODDLE RETURNING SHOULD FACE FACTS THAT IT WAS THAT DECISION THAT STARTED THE LONG SPIRAL DOWNWARDS.DESPITE LISTENING TO THEM AND BACKING DOWN FROM BRINGING HODDLE BACK,IT'S ALL RUPERTS FAULT NOW.RUPERT LOWE WAS THE ONLY LEADER THIS CLUB HAS HAD IN RECENT YEARS,AND WITH THE BOARD BACKING HIM TOOK THIS CLUB OUT OF THE DECREPIT DELL TO A STADIUM WE WERE ALL PROUD OF.OUR TURNOVER GREW FROM £15M. TO £50.M,ALL THE MONEY WENT BACK INTO THE CLUB INCLUDING THE ACADEMY WHICH BECAME SECOND TO NONE-VERY SMALL PROFIT WAS MADE.TALK OF NOT GIVING STRACHAN A LOAD OF MONEY COULD BE TRUE,BUT HAVING WORKED IN COVENTRY FOR NEARLY 20 YRS. DURING THE ATKINSON/STRACHAN ERA AND WHERE COVENTRY ENDED UP WITH ALMOST £40.M OF DEBT THEN I CAN UNDERSTAND WHY RUPERT WOULD'N'T SPLASH THE CASH.
WE DON'T YET KNOW OF ANY NEW SET UP,BUT WE MAY FIND THAT IF RUPERT DID RETURN, THEN WHO KNOWS,IT MAY WELL LEAD ONTO INVESTORS COMING INTO THE CLUB,HIS BUSINESS SKILL ALONGSIDE COWAN AND ASKHAM IS WAY AHEAD OF THE PRESENT PEOPLE RUNNING THE CLUB

Lowe has presence. He was not entirely to blame for relegation, although he played a part. What has come since has not improved matters. In view of this I support Rupert Lowe's return - the sooner the better.
In respect of our recent loan signings, no disrespect intended to the players coming (hopefully to give their all for the cause) but we are really clutching at thin strands of hope now to stabilise a team that has already been pulled around, twisted and disrupted. I can't see us finding the lucky formula at this late stage I'm afraid - although I do live in hope. We have had very little luck all season so I guess the law of averages suggests we must be due some???

I don't want any of them running, sorry that should have been ruining, my club anymore. But until we get a real fan with real money into the club we have to hope this is a means of expunging the terrible trio, once and for all.

Is Lowe is really serious about coming back to reclaim his position as chairman withoutfinance in place then he is even msadder than I thought. Wose still his presence will certainly inflame opinion in the stands at a time when we all need to n pull together support the team and the manager Nigel Pearson.
Its disgraceful behaviour but what we have come to expect from Lowe and Michael Wilde

if the board and a lot of fans had not revolted when rupert wanted to bring back glen hoddle we would never have been relgated so lets just hope he may just be able to turn things around now but if he comes back he must remember the most important people the fans

Fred, Dorset - you are 100% correct. This was the beginning of the end, in my view too, and many fans have to admit that they themselves were wrong for not supporting Hoddle's return.
The fans are the most important people here - but sometimes they are in the wrong too!

i could totally understand Lowe and Wilde offering to come back if they had a great investor?but why would these two want to be bedfellows again when clearly did not like each other,it has to be because they are scared their shares will be worth nothing, if we get relegated, all they care about is money, that is the clear message we are all getting, they just want to keep what they think they should have, the club is only a money making scheme, if they cared at all we would have had a lot more people willing to invest, they are boils on the bum of humanity, and if anyone is under the illusion that these two have any other interest than sucking more money, then watch what they do when they get back i am totally sick of these people who claim to have the saints best interest at heart, when clearly to start this kind of trouble when we need unity all round, are nothing but leeches, I AM 100% BEHIND OUR NEW MANAGER AND WISH SAINTS ALL THE BEST COYR

I just hope that all this boardroom battle crap does not give the players the excuse to play sh1te in the next 6 vitally important games. It will be the players on the pitch that will keep us up, not the board

Thanks for confirming what I was saying - you obviously believe everything bad that ever happened was entirely Lowe's fault and he deserves no credit for anything good!!!!!

all those who'd like to welcome back Wupert- think of it this way;
George Bush has done a terrible job as president. Would you like to give him another go?
congratulations Wupert-you did such a good job of undermining the team, the club and the fans, and sending us on this downward spiral that we'd like to give you back the job that seems to have taken over your ego. Wupert for President!!!! Wupert '08 ! W '08!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!
Or we could move forward in a different direction and draw a line under this sorry demise of a once proud football club and city.

Rupert started the slide by not supporting Gordon Strachan after the cup final. the funds needed to be available then, they weren't, Gordon left, the rest as they say is history,
RL has ruined this club and is the main reason we cannot attract investment, he should sell up and clear off.

Nobody wanted Hoddle back, nobody wants Lowe back, its no wonder Southampton Football Club is in a bloody mess.
Over the last few years Southampton Football Club has been run un-professional thats why we are in the state we are in at the moment perhaps relegation.
We need the professionals back, and love them or hate them we need these two men back to be
successful again.
