CLITHEROE'S Samantha Murray has this morning been confirmed as part of Great Britain's four-strong modern pentathlon team for the London Olympics.
The 22-year-old Blackburn Harrier has been picked alongside Mhairi Spence, Nick Woodbridge and Sam Weale.
Murray, a former Bowland High School student, has been in excellent form this year and, in May, clinched a bronze medal at the World Championships in Rome.
“Competing at a home Games is the opportunity of a lifetime and I can’t wait," said Murray.
"I’m going there with the aim of winning a medal and it will be great to have a home crowd behind me.”
There will be more reaction to Murray's Olympic selection in tomorrow's Lancashire Telegraph
