THREE men appeared at Watford magistrates Court on Wednesday afternoon for the start of extradition proceedings following the killing of Patrick "Deuce" Ward at Carrownanty Cemetery, Ballymore, County Sligo in Southern Ireland in May 1999.

They all face one charge of murder, three charges of attempted murder, one offence of violent disorder and one offence of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life.

They are Michael McDonough, 55, and his sons Patrick, 31, and Michael 27, who were arrested at a Travellers' Site in three Cherry Trees Lane, Hemel Hempstead.

They have been remanded in custody for 15 days to consider an appeal against extradition.

Two more men were arrested in connection with the same incident by the Met police in the Acton area of London.
