Saints midfielder Jack Cork will be guaranteed the chance to win an Olympic medal if Great Britain can overcome South Korea tonight.

Team GB go into the last-eight clash at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium as favourites to advance to the London 2012 semi-finals, writes NICK CLOWES.

That would ensure the Group A winners of a place in either the bronze or gold medal match Saints ace is targeting medal – and give Cork the chance to be one of the first British footballers for a century to win an Olympic medal.

Cork, who was used as a late sub in each of the three preliminary round games, admitted he has been gripped by Olympic fever.

“This is a great experience for me,” said the 23- year-old. “It’s the Olympic Games and it’s a dream to play in it. I never thought when I was growing up that I would be here playing in the Olympics , but it’s great.”

I saw GB play UAE and they were getting better as the game went on. It was a shame the ladies lost last night so let's hope the chaps keep us in the competition.

Can't blame Corky, he wasn't given the opportunity to shine, that's what you get when you play for the Saints! Had he still been at Chelsea would probably have been first pick!
