Hendon 28 Belsize Park 8

Middlesex Federation Rugby Vase

Hendon's previous heartbreak at the hands of Belsize Park was swiftly forgotten as they notched an impressive victory on Sunday.

Belsize had previously beaten Hendon on away tries following a hard-fought draw in the national vase third round. But there was to be no repeat at Copthall as Hendon booked a semi-final date with St Nick's Old Boys on Sunday by winning this Middlesex North group final.

A tight start saw winger Jamail open the scoring before Park kicked a penalty to tighten things up at 5-3. Hendon then shifted gear and extended their lead largely inspired by the boot of the influential John Diviney, on form to secure three penalties and two conversions.

Peter Lore and the lightning-quick Jamail punished Park further with a try apiece.

The win went some way to softening the blow of Belsize's previous victory and Saturday's 53-12 league humiliation at the hands of Royston.

If they can get past St Nick's on Sunday Hendon will secure a place in the vase final on April 5.
