In a crucial London SW IV fixture, third-placed Purley John Fisher took on the team one place above them, needing to win to have any chance of promotion.
Purley hit the ground running and took the lead from a Paul Hobden penalty but soon went behind. They managed to close the gap with a late try, but the superb home defence held out to secure a vital victory.
This Saturday, Purley John Fisher are at home to Mitcham in a friendly fixture (KO 12pm).
