Borehamwood U13s won a hotly-contested cup game against Chesham United 4-2.

Chesham had the ball in the back of the net in the first minute for 1-0, but Borehamwood went looking for an equaliser straight away. Matthew Hill played a brilliant ball to Wayne Hurlull, who finished the move in style and made the score 1-1.

Then midfield powerhouse James Whereat went close with a free-kick which hit the post, and Craig Maclean had a shot that just went wide. Chesham nearly made it 2-1, but Borehamwood captain Rob Knight cleared the ball off the line.

Just before half-time Wayne Hurlull went on a great solo run and put the ball into the net for 2-1.

In the second half, Borehamwood went on the attack, but Michael Smith's shot was well saved. Borehamwood made it 3-1 when in-form Daniel Taylor gave the keeper no chance. Then Chesham made it 3-2, scoring from a corner. Borehamwood's back three held strong as Chesham tried to get back into the game, and in the last two minutes Borehamwood went on the attack and benefited from an own goal.

Acting manager Steve Hill said: "The boys played well. The whole squad had a part to play in this tough game, and we must do this for the rest of the season."
