Aldenham's end-of-season slump continued at the weekend with a dismal defeat against Met Police, who are bottom of the division below.

After a superb run of performances, Aldo's last two games have been dreadful. The Blues' passing on Saturday was poor, and the balls to the forwards were often overhit or inaccurate.

All four goals conceded on Saturday came as a result of poor defending.

It could have been different, as Pete Holmes' goal in the first half was chalked off for offside, and Aldenham immediately went one down. Keith Furniss equalised for Aldenham with a thumping shot off the crossbar.

Matt Gravatt had two second half chances for Aldenham, but, in truth, the Blues created very little. The game was already lost when sub Keith Whittall curled a lovely shot home for 4-2.

Player-manager Holmes said: "We have completely gone off the boil. It is a shame after such a good run, and the way were playing."

On a brighter note, Aldenham are expecting skipper Ben Rowe back next week after a foot injury, and may have Darren Wadkins available after a four-week absence with a hamstring strain.

Aldenham could be looking for a manager for next season, as joint player-managers Andy Furniss and Pete Holmes, are both likely to retire through knee injuries gained this season.

ALDENHAM: Harding, Kent, Horton, Gynne, Green, Tomkins (Whittall), Stevens, Furniss, Gravatt; Holmes, Denty.
