Trojans under-12s picked up their sixth title on the bounce since banding together at primary school age.

The Stoneham Lane based youngsters clinched the county title once again after beating six teams at Petersfield’s rugby festival.

The tight-knit group have been in the same team since they formed the under-7s side, with some of them being introdced to the sport at five years old.

Proud coach Mark Randell has been with the group of lads since they started.

Randell, who played for Trojans and also coaches and manages Basingstoke’s senior side, said: “It was good to see them win again, but rugby at this age is not all about winning.

“The most important thing to me is seeing around 40 lads turn up for training on a Sunday morning and finish with a smile on their faces and return for more training the next week.”
