Tottonians produced another bonus point victory to create a cushion over London 2 South-West’s chasing clubs.

Totts, who have lost just one game all season, ran in six tries to defeat Warlingham RFC 38-11, while the clash between second-placed Winchester and third side London Cornish was postponed.

Tottonians were keen to get going after the festive lay-off and were over the try line twice in the early stages.

Pressure from the whistle ended with fullback Bart van Herwijen cutting a line and touching down for skipper Robbie Searle to convert.

Centre Mike Searle then made a trademark burst through the middle, only to be brought down just short of the line – two phases later Mick Jones was on hand to dive over in the corner.

Warlingham got back to within six points when they punished Totts’ infringements with a couple of penalties but the home side had the last say of the half.

Number 8 Dan Stocks peeled off a seven-man maul, Herwijen cut through and fed winger Faisil Mutiti who dived over under the posts. A simple conversion to gave Totts a 19-6 half-time lead. Tottonians had to wait until halfway through the second period to bring up the bonus point with their fourth try.

Shortly after Mutiti was yellow carded for retaliation, Ali Ramus was fed by scrum half Bryn Marshall to crash over; Robbie Searle added the extras.

More followed from a penalty try and Richard Buck had the final say for Totts when he picked up and dived over.

Warlingham hit back with their only try of the game in the final minutes.

Tottonians coach Gavin Williams said: “I was delighted with a very efficient performance and the bonus point win.

“Our forwards created a fantastic platform through a dominant set piece performance. The accuracy of the lineout was particularly pleasing considering the weather conditions and our back line had a great day with wing Faisil Mutiti starring.

“Debutant Stu Davies also performed well from the bench and has added real strength to our squad.”

The Winchester v Cornish match was postponed because the London club had to honour an RFU Intermediate Cup clash with Crowborough RFC which they lost. Winch will now travel to Cornish on January 24.
