Ambitious Millbrook will take remaining games ‘one by one’ as they face their next tricky opponents in a bid for promotion.

Brook are currently third in Snows Group Hampshire 1 and need to claim second spot for the chance to play in the London leagues.

They host mid-table Petersfield tomorrow and, after looking at last weekend’s results, have even more reason to be wary of the opposition.

Petersfield may have only won five of their 14 league matches but they pushed runaway leaders US Portsmouth all the way last time out – losing by just three points.

Brook captain Mike Randell said: “We have a run in of three league games which we have to take one by one to get us where we want to be.

“This is the first of those and we need to get the win.”

Brook have injuries to forwards Garrie Silverthorn and Ryan Jones, so Tom Colling moves to flanker and Gav Evans comes into the second row.

Dean Weaver also comes into the squad as back row cover.

With the automatic promotion place for winning the title almost certainly in the hands of US Portsmouth, Brook’s best chance is second place.

That is currently held by the only non-Hampshire side in the league, Bognor.

However, the West Sussex side have a tough run-in with games against US Portsmouth and Millbrook after tomorrow’s clash at Fordingbridge.

Bridge are normally in the thick of the promotion battle at this stage of the campaign but have lost too many games to be a threat now.

However, they have won three of their last four matches to pull away from the unfamiliar territory of mid-table.

Unbeaten Locks Heath Pumas go for their 14th victory on the bounce when they head to Aldershot & Fleet in Snows Group Hampshire 2.

Southampton are at home to Southsea Nomads.
