Tottonians stormed over the title-winning finish line in style and will step up to their highest league level as London 2 South-West champions.

Totts needed just one point to claim top place but they returned to Water Lane with five as they trounced KCS Old Boys 62-29.

Coach Gavin Williams said: “Now we can officially say we are champions. Even though we had messages of congratulations from other clubs during the week, it was a bit of a false dawn and we did not want to celebrate until the job was done.

“We were behind at one point but played some outstanding rugby and put a lot of points on the board against a side who have had a good run lately.

“It was a very happy coach on the trip back and it carried on in the clubhouse. I’m delighted and very proud.”

Totts ran in nine tries in their final away game and skipper Robbie Searle was in prolific form with his boot.

Tottonians played part of the first half with an empty replacement bench as Dan Stocks, Scott Rogers and Oli Northover went off injured.

The single point they needed came in the first 40 minutes as Totts ran in four tries to bring up the important bonus point.

Richard Buck went over first, Ali Ramus, later sin binned, touched down next, Mike Searle evaded three tackles to cross the line and Buck added his second.

Five more tries came in the second half to the delight of Tottonians’ supporters.

Nick Wood crossed the line, full back Stewart Davies got his side’s sixth, Nathan Burns showed pace to touch down, Mike Searle got a second and Dan Stocks returned to the pitch to finish off the scoring. Robbie Searle kicked 17 points.

KCS got their deserved bonus point with two tries in each half.
