EASTLEIGH made sure they stayed hard on the heels of London 3 South-West’s leading pack with their third victory on the bounce.

The Bishopstoke Road side put the home advantage to good use as they defeated Teddington, who travelled to Hampshire in second place, 10-0 with a couple of well-worked tries.

Eastleigh were put to the test in an eventful first half which, nevertheless, did not produce any points for the scoreboard.

They missed an early chance to go ahead, as high winds made kicking difficult, and at one point were were down to 13 players as captain Paul Fudio and Adam Kidd were yellow carded.

But after being restored to full strength, Eastleigh grabbed the lead after the interval when debutant Jak Evans powered his way over the line.

Another well-worked move between forwards and backs led to Martin Kirby touching down for Eastleigh, who then repelled Teddington’s valiant efforts to get something out of the game in the closing stages.

Matt Blackman was named Eastleigh’s man of the match.
