Eastleigh 14 Camberley 36

EASTLEIGH had little answer to the power and precision of league leaders Camberley - at least not until the game had been sewn up by the visitors.

The Surrey side, who have led the way in London 3 South-West since being beaten twice early in the season, made their intentions clear from the whistle.

They were over the line within three minutes and had wrapped up the bonus point with their fourth try by the time the sides jogged off at half time with Camberley 24-0 up.

The well organised side had a tight defence, were relentless in attack, looked dangerous whenever they had the ball in hand and gave Eastleigh little chance to put any half-time team talk into practice when they struck again straight after the break.

Five minutes later they were touching down once more.

But credit to Eastleigh who refused to give in during the niggly encounter.

At 36-0 in arrears they were playing for pride and were rewarded for sticking to their task with a couple of hard-earned tries.

First Ben White finished off a break from Ash Holland who was inches from the line before unloading to his back-up.

Then replacement James Pickett touched down in the corner after running on to a ball which was neatly chipped over the Camberley defence by fly half Phil Baldwin, who also converted both scores.

Eastleigh could have added to their tally but for a knock-on.

The visiting defence raised their game again to see them through to the final whistle.
