MARTIN Johnson has today resigned his position as head of the England national rugby side.

The Rugby Football Union (RFU) is expected to release a statement shortly.

Johnson, who won the World Cup as a player in 2003, guided the team to a quarter final place in last month's tournament in New Zealand.

However, the campaign was beset by problems and controversy off the pitch.

To be fair, the England team was an absolute shower. If the football team had behaved in that way then the entire squad would now be swinging from the lamp posts in Trafalgar Square.

Rugby will never progress as a sport until the players and the management stop treating it as an extension of a public school summer tour. You don't see this sort of thing in Rugby League, probably because it's a professional game run by professionals, rather than enthusiastic amatures.
