Hampshire 1’s ‘clash of the titans’ lived up to its billing at the weekend – with home side Fordingbridge claiming the bragging rights.
Hampshire 1 leaders Bridge defeated second-placed Eastleigh 16-10 in an enthralling end-to-end clash at the Recreation Ground to keep their unbeaten record and stay on top of the table.
Defeat for the first time this season may have been a bitter pill for Eastleigh to swallow but players walked off the pitch with heads held high, knowing a late score could have turned the ferocious tie in their favour.
Eastleigh’s only failing was not taking advantage of a long period of pressure towards the end of the first half, by turning possession into vital points.
