A HAMPSHIRE man has been chosen to captain a boat which will sail around the south coast during the Olympics.

Mike Barham, from Gosport, will lead a team of sailors nominated by friends and family to crew the 30ft wooden yacht as it travels from Emsworth to Margate in July.

The vessel is made from wooden donations given by people in the south east and has been described as a “living archive of people’s lives.
