Garmin Hamble Winter Series, Day 7 10:52am Mon 26 Nov 07 Sparkling conditions in the Solent brought smiles to the faces of competitors and officials alike, when a 15 knot north westerly breeze allowed extra races to be sailed to make up for those lost earlier in the series when winds were either too light or too heavy. |

Aviva was within 20 miles of Cervin EnR, Dee and Nigel's race-rivals, when the top section of the mast splintered due to the Gennaker halyard block exploding. |

| Dee Caffari dodges lightening as Aviva enters the doldrums | | 11:42am Monday 19th November 2007 | | Whilst the leaders in the Transat Jacques Vabre race have now passed through the doldrums, Dee Caffari and Nigel King are still in the midst of the low pressure area in what will be a testing time for the co-skippers onboard Aviva. At 0003 hrs UHT, Dee reported:
"Having been under attack from flying fish for the last couple of days we are now under threat of lightening. Neither of the two above are favourites of mine so my stress levels are quite high. |
Golding leads Transat Jacques 10:22am Tue 13 Nov 07 HAMPSHIRE ocean racing guru Mike Golding yesterday took the lead in the Transat Jacques Vabre transatlantic race for the first time since it started 11 days ago. |
| Garmin Hamble Winter Series | | 9:56am Monday 12th November 2007 | | The weather played a few tricks in the Solent for Day 5 of the Garmin Hamble Winter Series. First of all, it largely ignored the weather forecast, which predicted winds in the region of 15 knots, but it was generally in excess of that by 5 to 12 knots, although it continually fluctuated up and down in strength. The forecast was, however, right on the money with the wind direction, which was from the west at the 10:00 start time, and veered to the north west in the afternoon, which had been allowed for in the courses that were set. |
| Dee Caffari and Nigel King battle for position | | 9:54am Monday 12th November 2007 | | Following the first full week of racing, the Aviva co-skippers have made the tactical decision to head west of the Canary Islands in an attempt to close the gap on the fleet to the south of them. The changeable wind conditions, fluctuating constantly from a light breeze to over 25 knots, have caused Dee and Nigel frustration. The co-skippers have been battling hard to keep Aviva's position in the race. |
