Wight Link West Solent Circuit
Fifty get a perfect day
The 50 competitors in Lymington Town Sailing Club's (LTSC) sixth Wight Link West Solent Circuit were met with a perfect sailing day on Sunday (November 25) with a 10 knot north westerly breeze and a tide about to turn to the ebb.
Once again the fleet was given a spinnaker test with a couple of short legs which made demands on crew work.
For once Peter Scholfield's HOD355 Zarafa did not win, conceding victory to William Newton's J105 Jelly Baby by 50 seconds.
However by treating her second place as a discard Zarafa still has an impressive seven point lead in the eight race series.
In IRC class 2 the consistent Swan 41 Phillipides (AWS Hall) has notched up a five point lead with an impressive victory.
Club handicap has tighter racing with half time handicap changes coming in to play. Philip Hutchinson's Hustler 35 Leonora leads the Rustler 24 Emilia by just 1.5 points.
Folkboat one-design racing is probably the most exciting with Rick Otten's Yukon on nine points followed by three boats each with ten points so no let up there.
