The Saints managerial legend’s exclusive weekly column...
New owner was Sam's big problem
Sam Allardyce
Sam Allardyce

SAM Allardyce's main problem at Newcastle was the chairman who appointed him in the pre-season left soon after, writes Lawrie McMenemy in today's Daily Echo.

As is the trend, the club was bought and the new owner is rich enough to make big decisions sooner than most.

He did the unusual thing of donning the football strip and joining fans in the crowd before away games.

He would obviously take on board the many criticisms that have surfaced, because the team have had a bad run, and he has decided to move Sam on.

Read Lawrie's views in today's Daily Echo.
