LAWRIE McMenemy was favourably impressed by England's friendly against Switzerland at Wembley this week.
But then he remembers when Cameroon were the attraction for a February friendly back in the early 1990s after they had had a fantastic World Cup.
The Cameroon players had been in dispute about their bonuses and not impressed by the freezing weather. Star attraction Roger Milla spent the match swathed in a duffel coat on the bench.
"So to get 87,000 people to turn up this week for a game against Switzerland, not exactly in the top ranks of World football, was no mean feat," writes Lawrie.
