Saints 1 Spurs 2

Saints 1 Spurs 2 Saints 1 Spurs 2

Gareth Bale returned to haunt his former employers today as Tottenham held on to win at Saints. Spurs had not even scored - never mind won - on their five previous trips to St Mary's but dominated the first half on the south coast.

Bale gave the north Londoners the lead just 15 minutes into the match against the club with whom he began his career, heading home on his return to action following the birth of his first child. Spurs deservedly doubled their advantage as half-time approached through Clint Dempsey, who directed home into an empty net after Jose Fonte's clearance off the line fell straight into his path.

A vastly-improved Saints side re-emerged for the second period and they reduced the deficit in the 66th minute when Jay Rodriguez lashed home his first Premier League goal. Southampton continued to press for a leveller as the clock wound down but could not find an elusive second goal, much to the frustration of under-pressure manager Nigel Adkins.

The hosts came into the game with just one win to their name since their return to the top flight, although things could have been a lot different had they not conceded 24 goals already this campaign.

That defensive shakiness was evident after just three minutes when Aaron Lennon prodded wide after a Jan Vertonghen cross caused confusion at the back.

It was a quiet opening at St Mary's but one in which Spurs looked the more threatening. Jermain Defoe came agonisingly close to giving Tottenham a 14th-minute lead after connecting with a Kyle Walker cutback and a minute later Southampton's defence was breached by a familiar face.

Tom Huddlestone clipped an excellent weighted ball into the box and Bale met the ball with gusto to arrow a header past Artur Boruc. The winger kept his celebrations to a minimum in respect to his former employers, who he almost punished again with a driven cross that Danny Fox had to turn behind. Bale then headed over and Defoe blazed over as Tottenham continued to search for a second.

Southampton, by comparison, were looking devoid of ideas going forward and were unable to get away a shot in the first half.

The first period was made all the worse for Saints six minutes before the break as Lennon ran at the defence and played through Defoe. The England international's effort was cleared off the line by the stumbling Fonte but straight into the path of Dempsey to bundle home, before an exchange between Boruc and home fans capped a miserable first half for the hosts.

Saints looked rejuvenated when play resumed, with Jason Puncheon putting an acrobatic effort just wide soon after the restart. Fox then fired a long-range effort over for the home side, who were fortunate not to concede another when Walker burst through on goal only to screw wide.

Huddlestone was the next to put wide for Spurs, before Adkins brought on Emmanuel Mayuka in a bid to claw their way back. Rodriguez nodded wide shortly afterwards and Maya Yoshida saw a header blocked behind from a free-kick.

Saints were looking more like the attacking threat they had shown in previous games and reduced the deficit in the 66th minute. Brad Friedel did excellently to stop Fonte's goal-bound flick from Fox's corner, but could do nothing to prevent Rodriguez smashing in the rebound.

The former Burnley striker came close to doubling his tally three minutes later with a half volley, before William Gallas did well to deflect a Rickie Lambert shot behind.

The Spurs captain had to be alert to clear a Adam Lallana cross out of danger as Saints upped the ante. Rodriguez fired wide from 20 yards as the home side pushed for a leveller, with substitute Guly do Prado and Morgan Schneiderlin seeing late efforts blocked as Spurs held out for three points

Mmmmmmmmmmmm......I am really surprised your team is struggling so badly. Most teams that get promoted have a season where they take everyone by surprise and finish in respectable mid-table.

Squad additions wise and tactically though you seem to have made a right mess of it and Mr Positivity and coaching staff will be out on their ear if you loose the next one in the League against West Brom irrespective whether or not you beat Leeds on Tuesday.

If we could attack teams like the second half we would be in the top six. Unfortunately we seem to think we have to give the other side a couple of goals start.
I'm still behind Nigel and i think he is learning with each game. Before long we will take someone to the cleaners and then the players will get the confidence to play better.

Our goalkeeper did himself no favours at all . It is reported that when they scorced their second goal he turned on the home fans and swore and threw water at them. I cant say this is true but by the way they were having a go at him something happened. Anyone throw some light on this ??.

I didn't see this but thought he was particularly poor in the first half. He was harly more inspiring but he claimed a few in the second half. What happened to Gazzaniga?

In the first half I was wondering if the league was too big for us and whether we need to go and buy a whole new home support in the January window but I was glad to see the crowd repond positively in the second. Despite being two nil dow, the chants "We are Southampton and we shoot when we want" were pretty funny. I think the way the crowd got behind the team helped the performance even before the inspiriational Mayuka came on.

We were poor in the first half. Bale was good, though he gets the Papa Waigo award for being great at drifting off side. Lennon and Walker were causing us a lot of problems against Fox. We were really good in the second, particularly before the second lot of substitutions. Though we lost a bit of momentum it was good to see Adkins go three at the back and go for it.

It is a shame about the loss. I think we deserved a win, but I think there was a lot of positivity leaving the ground today which hopefully signals things might be turning around for us.

Cant fault Nigel today, right tactics, right players (bar Fox of course). Was simply beat by a far better side.

Think Yoshida had a great game, was disgusted to see Fox having a pop at lallana after the first goal, purely as he is the captain, complete lack of respect and discipline. Would love to hear somebody say our lucky number 13 had a good game today.

First half it looked like we were the team that played and travelled in Europe mid week. We looked like we lacked belief.
2nd half was so much better - Mayuka must start the next game. He was the first player to really run at their defenders and it scared the hell out of them. Something to build on at least. Lets get Dawson in January. I read that Sylveste is training with Man Utd. As a free agent we can sign him - surely worth a punt, he has bags of experience.

Our manager must feel as gutted I do after a 65 minute capitulation.
Lambert, lallana, worked their socks off so did Jrod.
The rest should hang their heads in embarrassment for allowing spurs to give us a keep ball exhibition.
Poor, slow negative week passing, lack of drive and ambition

Mayuka came on we changed the system instantly it was llike a different team.
The crowd roared them on to score the goal and we should have won in the end if only we could finish.

Having said all of this the thing that upset me and the majority of the supporters in the Chapel, was to see our goalkeeper's reation to a comment by a supporter.I didn't hear what was said but, he becconed him to come on to the field for what can only be described, for a fight.
This insensed the chapel supporters who wanted Nigel to take him off and put on Kelvin Davis, for his disgacefull display.
He even threw his water bottle back and then mocked the crowd.
I can say in 50 years of supporting my team I have never seen the like of this before.
I hope that the club investigate this issue and take immediate disciplinary action against him.
Stewards were there where the issue happened, nobody was ejected, they took notes of the situation.

The crowd today were fantastic in lifting our team.
Oh why do we have have to be behind, to have that desire to try to win only when our backs are to the wall?

I managed to watch the game from work on a 'certain website' and first half, spurs really brought the game to us, it was only a lack of finishing skills that kept the score to 2, but second half was a great showing by the lads, defensively, attacking, only think that lacked was the end product, that quality cross. Mayuka was very good, between him and clyne they could wreak havoc on the right side with their pace, should have started. Punch didnt have a great game, fox was exposed a bit but he didn't have much help, but that changed in the second half. Fonte was helped out a lot by maya, not one of his greatest games.
A game of 2 halves, the old cliche. freebie like nigel reo-coker, a midfield general, i feel could be a player we are lacking, giving spider and davis the chance to go forward and create, just a thought.
Overall, it was a def. improvement from the previous game.

Second half we really gave it to the spuds and it was a pleasure to see the goal and the crowd silence the north london cockney boys trying to give it large.

It's a tough league - WE ARE RED ARMY - THE PRIDE AND THE PASSION and we came back FIGHTING.

The Saints Team (and I hope we see a more settled team) still must work hard in training with the passing to quicken it up and continue to make it incisive. They must be more robust in possession.

ATTACK IS THE BEST FORM OF DEFENCE and second half we were getting back to our best.

THE CROWD ARE ALSO PART OF THE SOLUTION - and as we upped our game - the Saints Players started to work their socks off.

Spurs allowed us to get back into the game when they took off Tom Huddlestone.
He was the classic example of how to control a game without breaking stride.
Saints had several players who put in maximim effort to get very little return.
If the entire team were on the same wavelength as their captain they may well have done a lot better.

THE CROWD ARE ALSO PART OF THE SOLUTION - and as we upped our game - the Saints Players started to work their socks off.

I am looking forward to the next home game and 3 POINTS.

I cannot wait for our next game and see the home fans sit in silence as we give it to them.

NO MORE RESPECT FOR THE SPUDS - WE WILL GO TO THE LANE AND FINISH WHAT WE STARTED SECOND HALF.

we were a much better ten wih mayuka running at their midfield, pushing them back and taking the pressure off our defense.

Start mayuka with J-rod, whose confidence is growing, and give lambert a rest for a few matches.

SRL looked good today, but I think he needs a chance to run at a few defenses that have less in their tank. All his best work is behind him, by the time the defenses that he faces tire enough for him to have maximum impact.

Yoshi was quality today, brought out better from Jose and settled clyne.

Think Yoshida had a great game, was disgusted to see Fox having a pop at lallana after the first goal, purely as he is the captain, complete lack of respect and discipline. Would love to hear somebody say our lucky number 13 had a good game today.

I'm sure some will have a go at my opinion on this, but I can understand the crowd booing Guly. It's the first time it's happened so far and I'm sure next time he comes on the pitch as a substitute there will be even more booing him. Personally I have never seen a player who is so lazy on the pitch. Whenever he gets put on it only seems to have a negative effect on the other players. I can understand people saying support the team, which I do, but fans also have the right to express themselves in a negative way if something is not the way it should be. People have there reasons to boo Guly and should be allowed to if he doesn't want to pull his own weight and play for the team. It seems madness that he keeps getting played when he does not benefit the team when he is on the pitch.

I honestly don't know how they are doing as i can't stay up until 1 am when they come on the football league show. I guess they must be top though as it was such an easy league. Someone told me they are out of the JP Trophy too? But surely that's not true as it's such a mickey mouse trophy and so easy to win. Do they have an owner yet too? Such a shame that when they get one the minus 10 kicks in but i guess that'll still keep them in the top 6? So many questions i know but i've not got such a sad life that I spend lots of time on our rivals website.

I used to think the problems for Saints were down to tattoo's, but now I realize the problems are down to haircuts. Fox has a particularly bad haircut at the moment, and Fonte has not been the same player since he got rid of his headband.
Saints best football was played when Trevor Mitchell did Kevin Keegan's perm as well as Lawrie Mcmenemy's barnet. I also remember a lot of the other players getting their haircut from Mick Channon's brother. So I think that it I not a defensive coach needed, but a top hairdresser. Hang on can't fault Guly, he didn't do anything wrong, yes I agree about Fox he left Lalana chasing Walker, no contest, and blamed Lala for not catching him, naive to say the least. Sure some people will say I pay my well earned cash I am entitled to have my opinion , and you are, but next time you are abusing someone in a saints shirt think how much better they would do with your support, if we get relegated the whole club will get relegated , manager , players , tea lady and supporters . The guy next to me and the guy behind him had a good chortle as they both said they would up and leave if Adkins brought on Guly. Guly came on and they stayed.

Guly did nothing wrong, and had some good moments including a blocked shot as they sat their in complete denial that he can do anything decent, waiting for him to lose possesion or something have a bit of a tut and grumble.

A bit fickle if you ask me. They may have stayed, but at least they didn't boo him as others appear to have done.

Very good seeing the response in the second half!! Nice to see the support in the second half.

We started the game playing 4-4-2 which so many fans and "Uncle Dave the Dinosaur" on the radio have been calling for and for the whole of the 1st half we had ZERO, yes zero attempts on goal.
.
Jason had a tame effort early in the 2nd half before we CHANGED TO 4-2-3-1 with Mayuka and JayR playing wide and Adam making up the 3rd of the attacking midfielders.
.
Playing that system we were unlucky not to get a point from the game. The stats showed we had 11 attempts at goal so TEN of those must have come in the last 30 mins playing 4-2-3-1.
.
Isn't it about time that Uncle Dave retired, over the last few months he has been responsibile for puting out so much MISLEADING INFORMATION about only playing 4-4-2 and no other system.

Well you asked for it, no fan has the right or the need to boo one of their own players, it won't do any good except for perhaps for the brave boo boys ego. Tell me what Guly did wrong when he came on today, the answer is nothing, he did what he had to do well and was unlucky that his shot was blocked otherwise you would have all been praising him, no room at St Marys for your sort, plenty of room at Nottarf where you wouldn't be noticed.

Well at least they didn't roll over and die in the second half.

I'm really hoping that the lads listen to NA and his post match interview. For a manager who is supposed to be under so much pressure he sounded very calm. Tbh he talks like one of the greats and I really really hope that he does become one of the great football managers of our time. Next transfer window can't come quick enough for me - we need some experienced, quality defence ( AND NOT premier league journeyman player who's not really going to bring anything to the game)

I just hope that NA gets to see the season out - swapping managers left right and centre does not work for any team in any league.
What I like is NA's ability to rise above the obvious leading questions from the reporters and talk about what really matters. It's easy to whine and moan (like a certain manager at the fishy end of the M27) it takes real class to keep a calm head in the face of adversity

Well I thought we had a cracking second half once Mayuka came on. I would like to see him get more of a run out. Good on Nigel for bringing him on early enough to make a difference. The confidence he seemed to bring onto the pitch was the difference between the two halves. Suddenly Maya started making crucial tackles, suddenly Jose looked like he had remembered how to play and lead from defence (not seen since he had his haircut!) and the passing just seemed to come together, making us look so much slicker and giving us opportunities to score. Gutted Morgan's shot didn't come off, as we'd been shouting to him to shoot all game!

I don't know why Nige persists with Guly, as others have said, he seems to bring little to the game, however, I was shocked by the booing. You can't boo your own players when they come on to the pitch. That's terrible. At least give him an opportunity to do something. It really set the tone and all the support went flat.

If we can just keep the confidence and formation that we had in the second half for the West Brom game we'll be fine. I do think we need to try and play the same team though, so much chopping and changing is not good.

Perhaps the tide may have turned.
dont forget GULY and FOX! i think they cost us! how dare FOX moan at any other player in the team! disgraceful and shows no respect! how can any of our players moan at our captain for not helping stop our opponents scoring. and how dare adkins put guly on for anyone! to put an attacking player on for a defensive player when your chasing a game is a sacking offence.
i thought we played very well in the 2nd half, after not turning up in the first, and could have got a point from the game, yes spuds missed some chances but so did we. i thought mayuka changed the game with his pace but also his tracking back and passion. if we continue to play like that 2nd half display in future games then we will start to climb the table with ease.

I also remember a lot of the other players getting their haircut from Mick Channon's brother. So I think that it I not a defensive coach needed, but a top hairdresser. Get on the case Cortese!.......

Booing Guly as he joins the battle to regain the match, to snatch an equaliser and you morons boo him ?
You are the ones who will be responsible for my team being relegated, because you can be certain that other players heard it as well as Guly and they probably thought......why bother?
DISGRACEFUL !!!
Do not bother to reply in defence, I do not want to hear or see it !
Fox got blamed for everything.
I sat in front of several young lads who spent the entire game not-supporting THEIR/MY team.
Do not buy tickets if you do not support Saints, go to Pompey and support??? them.
Im a STH and supported saints all my life and yeah i was one of them booing Guly cos he is **** and does nothing fr the team. The only thing he has done is drink/drive. Our team are strggling under adkins who is outof his debth. I support them but will still be honest and boo if i want. He should stay out of the squad.

Once Mayuka came on it was a different game. I don't rate Yoshida at all - too many wayward passes and defensively not there. Missed a sitter as well! Boruc simply does not inspire a confident back line either.

This may be a contentious point (and I'll no doubt be slated for this) - but is Lallana up to having the captaincy? He's a great player, but does not appear to be as strong a leader as say Lambert or Fonte. And the poor spell has coincided with this...

Much as a like NA this can't go on.
Posters here are hailing NA as a hero for losing 1-2 to a team hung over from playing in Europe only last Thursday night!
A match lasts 90 minutes, no use shipping 2 goals in the first half and playing out of your skins in the second only to lose 1-2 playing at home.
From where I sat I think Spurs took their foot off the gas in the second half making Saints look better than they were.
Unless NC brings in an experienced coach with PL experience to help NA then nothing will change and NA will get the boot.
The happy clappies say if we play like we did in the second half against WBA, then we can get a result.
They've been saying that since the first game of the season, if we do this, if we do that, if we play Ricky for 90 mins, if, if , if and nothing changes.
As my grandfather used to say, if my auntie had b*lls she would be my uncle!
The only certainty, with no ifs, is that NC won't wait much longer before wielding the axe.

Good point re who - most of our senior players from previous campaigns have either been let go (being deemed not good enough for top flight despite not being given a chance) or dropped. Kelvin Davis made, in my opinion, a great captain, as did Fonte, but as you say, performances this year have been a little mixed.

Thought we were really poor first half today and the real turning point of the game was the introduction of Mayuka. He looked great, with bags of skill and speed! Think he needs to start next match ahead of lambert who looked slow and out of it today! Think even J Rod was better than him and I would never normally say that!

Still can't believe that people continue to slate Guly as much as they do! Booing him today was ridiculous! Why can't people just get behind the team and show some loyal support, regardless of who NA plays.

I suspect it's some of the fickle fans who forget that Guly was one of the big reasons we are in the premier league today with his goals and assists from last season. It's almost like he's a scape goat for our awful defending!

All I remember is how good we were for the final 24 minutes.

Anyway, thanks for helping someone from Hythe. They're generally pretty good at looking after themselves over that side of town. They know that, if they walk the wrong way home from the pub, they'll end up lost in the New Forest; it tends to concentrate the mind after a few too many shandies.

However, a question, how do you pronounce that strange word, 'saintes'?

I suppose in Spain it's like 'sane - teas', no?

I imagine the Portuguese would pronounce it more like 'shan - tsh', though.

This makes me wonder, in Spain, is a skate called a 'skay - tea' or a skar - they'?

Please don't take this the wrong way, PiS, but I really do hope that PFC does go POP!

Have a good clear out and start again with a clean sheet.

Like any club starting afresh, the decent fans and the crud will still be there, the structure will still be there and the rivalry will still be there, hense, whichever league you find yourselves in, you'll still be able to brag about being the second biggest team in Hampshire, but there won't be any jockeying for ownership amongst the Chanrai-esque vultures.

He did win us a trophy though. As much as I did like MLT, he never moved on from his small club. So when comparing Kanu to say MLT it is actually no comparison. Kanu 3 or 4 different European cups, 3 FA cups, 2 Premiership titles. Even Nigerian titles. MLT should have gone to Chelsea. Kanu was probably the best player I ever saw at holding the ball up.

Actually...I've had a thought...since Lance Amstrong was stripped of all his titles due to his proven cheating (unfair enhancements). Is their not a case for stripping PFC of their cup win. Let's face it...they have been proven to have been enhancing their capabilities unfairly.
This could be worth pursuing...is their a lawyer in the house?

Pained Stains

Wanted to hang out with the boys

So they formed in 1885

A club by the YMCA Five

Pained Stains

Couldn't win anything for years

So from Pompey came Bobby Stokes

And he took away all your tears

Pained Stains

Became the feeder club you still are today

But Fat Matt helped keep relegation at Bay

Until thrashed and sent down by PompAY

And then Suddenly Marcus Appeared

And you all listened with eager Ears

He would give us 30 million for Nowt.

And his name you all did loudly Shout”

Pained Stains

We saw you standing; holding hands

Without a League Trophy in your Arms

Just waiting for the Fire Alarm

Pained Stains

We saw your players with 4-3-3

And reading the managers Poetry

You'll be down by May you will See

And then suddenly Marcus's money disappeared

And you all felt rather Queer

His family took his 30 million Back

And you had to break the academy's Back

Pained Stains

27 years at the top you'd boast

Said you were the best on the south coast

But come May; you'll be toast

Pained Stains

We don't know what you were there for

You left after 70 mins and therefore

You have no real trophies to care for”

Be honest Bill. The relegation with Harry must still hurt. It led to the double drop. Of course you have been on the up for a while which would have been good. No pride at all. But how much of that is to blame on the fans! The crooks just took over the club - and it has been overwhelming eye opening at all the dodgy geezering going on. The fans have not been helped by anybody whilst trying to take over - and it has taken a fan to do the investigative journalism to turn the tide. I do think the trust will prosper if they can get hold of the ground. How far the prosper will go is open to debate. Most fans now just want to own their own club now and have no crooks involved. Who knows who will get involved (HNW's) if we can pay off the leach who has probably paid next to nothing to get his foothold on the club.

as a 10 year old so i love all the positive coments here, but let us not fool ourselves if NA does not get any results soon he will go, we do not know when but soon because if this does not happen that will mean that NC as a business man will look ineffective from the owners who must be worried what is happening as we all
would be if we were the family who owned Saints and want sucess, so please NA get a result next week but whatever thank you for geting us where we are but we cannot go backwards and need poonts now.

I am looking forward to the next home game and 3 POINTS.

I cannot wait for our next game and see the home fans sit in silence as we give it to them.

It's noble that Saints fans are supporting Adkins but at the end of the day he's demonstrated a lot of naivety. It was obvious that we had players who for the Championship could cut it, but the Premiership is a different proposition. Most supporters wanted to see the defence strengthened,it was, but enough? Billy Sharp is bought for a couple of mill and a few months later shipped off on loan to Forest, why? Rickie Lambert starts two games on the bench, why? Three goalkeepers started in first seven games, seriously? It's all very well that the fans are behaving in a loyal fashion, well done! But there's been a laundry list of errors on his part & we're a couple of months into the season. Can we really afford to hang around while he gets up to speed on life in the Premiership? If things don't change fast we could be condemned to another seven years of Donchaster, etc. What worries me is not just the amount of losses and goals we're letting in, but Adkins decisions making skills. Back in 2004 we could have got Hoddle as manager, the fans were understandably against it, but this led to Wigley been given the job which left us in a hole which ultimately led to our demise. We shouldn't put personal feelings in the way of the club's success, which judging by recent poles, we're doing! Adkins, nice guy, good football league manager but out of his depth at this level.

This may be a contentious point (and I'll no doubt be slated for this) - but is Lallana up to having the captaincy? He's a great player, but does not appear to be as strong a leader as say Lambert or Fonte. And the poor spell has coincided with this...
agree with the adam thing , don't think he needs the pressure .
Also agree Slugger.

Not Rickie - as we need him to focus on scoring goals and Fonte game is already variable at best.

I've said before, this season was always going to be a struggle. We would have benefitted from a consolidation season or three in the champ. We got promoted because we were on a roll, not because we had a rear team and now we're seeing the outcome.

I have to agree with the early posters, there are very few clubs who have fans who boo their own players and leave 15 minutes before the end. Doing that and then coming on here and baiting our neighbours, doesn't make us the pride of the south.

We need to support the team, accept that we need a season or two in the champ and continue to support them as they try to get back up.

If not, I fear that this experience will become a major car crash and we'll be on a downward spiral.

Typing COYR and other sentences in capital letters is not what it takes. Going to games and trying to create a bit of atmosphere is what we should be doing.

Game of two halves really, yes Spurs turned up in the first but unfortunately not in the 2nd. Adkins is obviously a good Championship manager and thats how far it goes.
You should have been slaughtered by half time but defoe was terrible.

'Dado...' was correct saying pompey get behind their players unlike saints give their team sh.t when the going gets tough.

Still Ramirez will be back in a few weeks and should make a big impact on the way the team performs albeit a little bit late to save you from the dreaded drop in my reckoning.

So pride of the south is 3 administrations, gun and drug runners for owners, a professional hit taken out on another owner, ripping off local and national charities, putting local businesses out of business, paying your fantastic sqaud of mercinaries rather than paying your tax bill and fans who cannot pack the park when a ticket is £5 or buy one get one free. Yep Pride of the south is Red and White

HOWEVER. when he came on i did not boo him as he is wearing the Strip. i did think Adkins Wtf are you doing. in fairness to Guly. he was not awful when he came on. He wasn't any good but he was not awful! Positives Guy. Together as one COYR!

Booing Guly as he joins the battle to regain the match, to snatch an equaliser and you morons boo him ?
You are the ones who will be responsible for my team being relegated, because you can be certain that other players heard it as well as Guly and they probably thought......why bother?

IF guly IS PICKED and plays we should give him 100 per cent support during the match.by all means criticise him after the match if his performance was below par.in my mind he has been off his game for too long now and i would loan him out somewhere to see if he gets his confidence back.but if he does play he gets my support during the match.

Would like to see Kelvin Davis back in goal. Not impressed by todays lad.

It is what it is this Season - and Saints are in a tough place fighting to get points at every opportunity.

We need to take every game with belief and confidence and of course we all need to go to the games and get the atmosphere going.

In the second half yesterday - lots of supporters rallied to the cause. This was also linked to a big improvement in the football and the spuds were lucky imo to come away with all 3 points.

The Team have a responsibility as well to really give it a go and perform.

Why can't we go to the lane and come away with points ?

i thought we played very well in the 2nd half, after not turning up in the first, and could have got a point from the game, yes spuds missed some chances but so did we. i thought mayuka changed the game with his pace but also his tracking back and passion. if we continue to play like that 2nd half display in future games then we will start to climb the table with ease.

I've always thought KD was a weak link in goal until I saw Boruc and Gazza!
One over the hill with an attitude the other inexperienced and jumpy, neither giving the defence, such as it is, any confidence.
Who's going to hold their hand up for signing these two who aren't fit to hold down a place in League 2?
Watching MOTD's analysis on the Saints defence and the wide open spaces they were giving Spurs, plus the lack of challenges when Spurs were in possession, leads me to the reluctant conclusion, having also watched Newcastle v WBA, that Saints will be slaughtered at the Hawthorns next Saturday.
Now either NC has to get in an experienced PL coach to help NA or sack him.
Nice guy though NA is supporters' patience is fast running out.

See thats just ridiculous, for having a slightly different opinion you say theres no room for my sort at st mary's. all i'm trying to say is that people are expressing their feelings about a player who does not seem to be interested in playing for the team, he even said he wanted to move to brazil recently so he is obviously not loyal to the club in any way. i watched saints relegated from the premier league and the championship and have stuck through each and every moment good or bad. players who have fought for the club have been heroes but there are people who have not cared. would you say that we should have backed rupert lowe or harry redknapp just because they were part of the saints? just because guly wears a saints shirt does not mean he should be untouched by criticism for not giving 100%.

We may well have got a point out of this but once NA used his 2 other subs we lost our impetus, he really doesn't seem to get it does he - if it ain't broke don't fix it!!!
Although Puncheon has done ok for us, being so left-footed and always cutting inside just narrows the play for us, time to drop him to the bench and give Mayuka (and Chaplow) a full 90 mins I think.
Also signing Silvestre to replace Fox would surely tighten our defence.
