Adkins unaware of Boruc incident
9:53am Monday 29th October 2012 in Saints News
Artur Boruc
NIGEL Adkins said he was unaware of any altercation between keeper Artur Boruc and a section of Saints fans after his side conceded a second goal against Tottenham.
Some Saints supporters have accused the Polish keeper, below, of reacting badly to barracking from the unhappy fans.
Many posted messages on social networking sites and at dailyecho.co.uk to even accuse Boruc, who was making his home debut, of throwing a water bottle that landed in amongst fans.
Adkins, though, insisted he hadn’t seen any incident.
When asked about it, he said: “Pass, I am totally unaware of it. I am not aware of any incident going on.”
Chapel End season ticket holder Rob Stickells contacted the Daily Echo last night to say: “This incident happened at the Chapel end of the ground, which houses the Family members.
“My two children witnessed this ‘tantrum’, a great role-model...not.
“So what action will be taken by the club- this man is not fit to wear to the shirt.”

I was not impressed by Boruc, he failed to come for several corners and crosses.
Why have we got him anyway?
Surely Gazza and Kelvin are good enough.
I have been impressed by Gazza, especially his distribution, while Kelvin is a proven shot stopper.

Jeering the GK when he picks up the ball is just crazy, how is that going to encourage him, and also the booing of a player when he enters the field of play, i.e Guly is just outrageous. We mock our neighbours down the road, but based on what I am seeing and hearing from our so called fans they have a lot to learn from the 'blue' end of the M27.
If you dont like what is happening then keep quiet, or just stay away. COYR.

Great to see/hear idiots near me being shouted down when they booed Guly coming on.
Let's get behind them ffs...we've had 2 years of winning and it's easy to support a winning team. Now is the time we need to back them, lift them and so we can push on.

The incident happened betweeen blok 18 & 19 after they went 2-0 up. Boruc reacted unprofessionally to some comments from the home fans, He then made some facial exrssions directly towards those in the first few rows of block 19, Was sat there myelf as if he was saying 'come on then', this was followed by him launching his sports drink bottle towards the crowd, althoug it actually hit the stewad's back wo was sitting between block 18 & 19. This was so unprofssional of him & i personally would nevr like to see him in a shirt again, You don't do this to your own fans especially when on a debut. He's done similar things before too

Yes of crourse Boruc shouldn't have reacted how he did but who can honestly say that in the heat of the moment when something bad has happened they haven't done something stupid that they regret. I couldn't get to the game so i'm happy to be proved wrong but from accounts i'v heard Boruc was okay and that neither goal were any fault of his own.
On a separate point i think Clyne is quality and a fantastic signing and a future England full back but the only area of his game that i worry a little bit about is in the air where Bale who just simply wanted it more and got ahead of him to score.
But overall (Nigel Adkins style) i think there were a lot of positives to take from the game and Mayuka on the right caused problems whenever he got the ball. Also i hope the goal will give Jay Rod some confidence to push on, have a feeling he will be the Rickie Lambert for us now in five years, if you know what i mean...
But to relay the well made point from Welss01.... "Support the manager and the team regardless" couldn't have put it better myself.we are not going to win every game, especailly against a team that were only in the champions league a season or two ago.
We have performed well against Utd, City and now Spurs, lets SUPPORT the team. whoever it may be wearing the shirt, it's the badge on the shirt that we are supporting and they are playing for.
As Alan Curbishley just said on SSN there is a mentality change for the players/ supporters of clubs who have been promoted as to be promoted you win about 27 games in the season but to stay up we need roughly a third of that.
It amazes me how quickly some fans have turned agains Adkins and it is only my opinion but i think that that is just plain wrong. I for one would like to have Nigel as our manager next season if we were in the Championship or still in the prem (which i think we will be).
Keep the faith, support, encourage, it will come everyone is learning. And it will taste even sweeter when we stay up with Nigel and we were with him each step of the way. Come on you reds.

If you're booed before you get on the pitch, get involved and show the fans they are wrong. Guly didnt do that, he hasn't done that this season. He looks lazy and couldnt appear more disinterested.
As for Boruc, I cant remember him having much to do other than pick the ball out of the net twice. He looks overweight and he cant afford to react to fans frustrations.
Disappointment of the day for me apart from the result which everyone seems to have missed was the 10 year old lad in the half time race that flicked the V's to the Spurs fans as he was walking off the pitch. His parents must be very proud

Don't worry though. Another couple of weeks at rear end of the table and there probably won't be anybody bothering to go anyway.

We just all need to calm down a bit, it is well documented Boruc is a bit of a hot head. A couple of weeks ago a Leeds fan is imprisioned for entering the field of play and striking Kirkland, yesterday a few fans start mouthing off at the keeper and he responds with some inappropriate gestures and you want him run out of the club....??
Can you imagine what Boruc would do to that Leeds fan if that incident would happen tomorrow at Leeds, cant see Boruc going down like Kirkland did, more likely to chase him back into the crowd. My point being this guy has some character about him and let's face it Goalie's are generally the more outlandish of characters on the pitch.
Let's put the energy into supporting the team and getting the points on the board which are so vital for us rather than winding up our own players. Keep Calm And Unite. COYR

I witnessed the fans reaction from my seat although I didn't actually see what Boruc did the fans were extremelly upset by what he did. If it is proved that he reacted as people say then in my opinion we should show him the door out of St Mary's immediately. His signing in my opinion was unnecessary and we certainly do not want anyone around the club let alone in the team that might upset the spirit we have albeit I fear that spirit is beginning to fade and I really hope that we can turn things around in Nov for the sake of NA future otherwise I fear NC wll have no other option come Dec

If your boss got on your back before you'd even done any work would you think "Right, I'll show him just how good I am by working really hard for him"? I doubt it, more likely you'll go "Right f**k him, why should I bother?"
Guly has been continually hounded by his own 'fans' - why the hell would he give a s**t about our horrible little club? He'll be looking for the first way out of here and I don't blame him.
Any Saints fan that boos a Saints player before he's even kicked a ball should be slapped by everyone within earshot.

"Our manager must feel as gutted I do after a 65 minute capitulation.
Lambert, lallana, worked their socks off so did Jrod.
The rest should hang their heads in embarrassment for allowing spurs to give us a keep ball exhibition.
Poor, slow negative week passing, lack of drive and ambition
Mayuka came on we changed the system instantly it was llike a different team.
The crowd roared them on to score the goal and we should have won in the end if only we could finish.
Having said all of this the thing that upset me and the majority of the supporters in the Chapel, was to see our goalkeeper's reation to a comment by a supporter.I didn't hear what was said but, he becconed him to come on to the field for what can only be described, for a fight.
This insensed the chapel supporters who wanted Nigel to take him off and put on Kelvin Davis, for his disgacefull display.
He even threw his water bottle back and then mocked the crowd.
I can say in 50 years of supporting my team I have never seen the like of this before.
I hope that the club investigate this issue and take immediate disciplinary action against him.
Stewards were there where the issue happened, nobody was ejected, they took notes of the situation.
The crowd today were fantastic in lifting our team.
Oh why do we have have to be behind, to have that desire to try to win only when our backs are to the wall?

Support comes in many forms and to show support you must be able to voice dissatisfaction as well. Anyway my main point is this. If a fan threw a bottle at a goalkeeper and the police identified that fan they would be arrested, charged, sentenced, receive a criminal record and be banned from the stadium. Sorry but dual standards simply aren't acceptable as we've seen in recent weeks with Terry and Cole. There's been too much of that in football where players think they can do what they like. What's good for the goose is good for the gander !

Instead of giving Boruc stick for an alleged bit of misconduct, I'm more concerned about his ability as keeper, for me, he needs to lose a few pounds around the middle, learn to off his line now and then, learn how to kick straight.

Well, good old Daily Echo doesn't mention it but that was from the interview immediately post match and Adkins looked bewildered by the question: he quite obviously didn't know anything about it.
I bet he does by now, though, and something he's been clear about with the palyers is "don't embarrass the club", so I expect something will happen.

1. Fans don't boo their own.
2. Fans don't yell F##k off back to Poland to their players
3 Nigel actually said he wasn't aware of the incident but would investigate.
4. Stewards took lots of names of witnesses.
Let the investigation run it's course...
To be fair the 2 outcomes of this would be: An SFC bans of some so called fans and a warning and fine to Mr Boruc.
I hate Booing swearing people that ruin the experience of watching games.. identify and ban!!!! It's likely to cost Mr Boruc quite a few Bob and in fairness the people that caused this must not be allowed in again.

The year we got relegated back in the 70's we thought a lot of our team were W+++ers but we didn't jeer them we kept on singing for the Saints & even when the seats were empty us so called football thugs were there cheering them on.
Say what you want but why blame a GK when you know the defence is rubbish?

What I mean is not your memories of the 70's but your memories of your own incessant calls for a new GK as the signing we really needed more than anything else. You banged on and on (and on and on) about how we needed a keeper and now you've just moved your whining target with a laughable comment of "why blame a GK when you know the defence is rubbish?"
You couldn't make it up.

So why on earth are you busy posting on here? Have a few beers in one of the fine watering holes in Sheffield or do a bit of shopping at that place just off the motorway can't remember the name

Block 23 is Family Centre, not the area in question. The incident happened right behind the goal. I dont condone what Borac did, he was wrong for reacting and for throwing his water bottle towards the crowd, he did not intend to throw it into the crowd, but i also dont care for how the fans reacted to the second goal going in. Being in the Premier League has brought back all the plastic fans who just want to jump on the back of success. The genuine ones continue to support the team and the Manager regardless, that's what a true supporter does.
COYR.

I felt sorry for Boruc. Agreed he shouldn't throw a water bottle but the so-called fans just did not give him a chance. In my opinion he was not to blame for either goal. What can the goalie do when he has such a bad defence in front of him. The jeering was unjustified - give a man a chance please!

It was his first home match and to be getting the abuse he was was definatley unfair! Instead of getting behind there team and supporting the players the fans were shouting appalling and unnecessary language and abuse at him, shouldnt we be encouraging, being positive and letting them know we still have faith?? Fair enough you can say that children witnessed this and shouldnt see such things but i think the kids will also pick up the behaviour from the fans and people that they are sat amongst and copy there behaviour. We should all be backing our team showing them support through the good times and the bad!!
