Adkins vows to turn Saints around

Nigel Adkins Nigel Adkins

Under-fire manager Saints boss Nigel Adkins today promised to turn around the club's poor start to the season.

The 47-year-old's position has come under increasing scrutiny after his side's indifferent start to life back in the top flight after a seven-year absence.

Adkins survived a showdown meeting with Cortese on Tuesday and said: “The relationship between me and the chairman is very good, which is an important one at any football club,.

"I would imagine there would be loads of speculation about different things, but it is strong and it is good. We talk regularly as we have always done and we're determined to make this a success."

He added: "There is no need to speak about my position.

"It is a football club determined to be successful. We obviously spoke in the summer about our strategies and we're working very hard.

"We've now had 10 games of the season and obviously only picked four points up. We sit at the bottom. That's fact, that's reality.

"As we always do at the football club, we assess situations. We have to accept where we are but then we look forward and move on.

"We're obviously looking at the next run of games. We take one game at a time in respect to the next one which is at the weekend against Swansea. We are focused on winning that."

The real question is who buys the players? Anyone who saw the team last season knew the defence was sketchy. Why did we sign a forward and attacking midfielder and a central midfielder and no left back? Given Davies continued absence and the Puncheon affair, does Adkins have the power to select who he wants?. Why is Fox not playing with the under 18s and Why hasn't Do Prado been shot? With the defence we have nothing can be done by anyone until January when it will be too late so step forward Cortese and admit that you signed Ramirez and tell us who is responsible for the others. I am sure Adkins wanted defenders but is such a Gent he is going to take the fall for this mess. p.s Hiro doesn't count, he is obviously not a proper footballer and probably came in a Kinder egg.

Yes, I remember seeing on ceefax that we were going to sign Buttner for about 9 weeks. Butland is fantastic but we cannot blame Kelvo for the goal's we've shipped. He made two blinding saves against Arsenal. We wouldn't pay enough for Olson, Buttner or Butland but splashed £11m on Ramirez, great player but not what we needed and that money would have bought us Butland and Buttner.

"I'm not on a match-by-match basis, the chairman wants me to be Southampton manager," Adkins told BBC South Sport.

"We are in a relegation dogfight but we are going to fight and keep pushing everyone on.

"We are going to graft and grind and people will be accountable.

"We will stand up and take responsibility and ultimately the players on the pitch will score goals and will keep them out at the other end.

"We will do it because we need to do it and we want to do it and we will do it.
We are all working for the same cause and that's to make sure Southampton Football Club stay in the Premier League."

Now all true Saints fans, quit whingeing and whining and get behind the Manager and the team ( I said that, not Nigel!)

So you're suggesting that Ramirez was bought instead of defenders? Really? How do you know we wouldn't pay enough for defenders? Sometimes enough is actually too much!
If we couldn't at the time time secure better defenders than we already have why buy any?

Let's look forward to better things and more quality coming into the club in January.

In fairness, I wouldn't blame Nicola for getting a little excited upon promotion and thinking "Right, we're in the big time - I'm going to fly to Italy and show the world I can sign a big player" and then pulling this off at the cost of neglecting the defence a little bit. This must be an exciting time for Nicola too and the buzz of the Gaston deal is probably why he got involved in the game.

But I think the last couple of months will have convinced him of the importance of getting the basics right. We'll strengthen in January and until then Nigel just has to keep us in touch.

I think Nicola is not the kind of man many proclaim him to be. I could be wrong, but I personally think Nicola knows he has got the right man to take Southampton football club forward.

Whilst the negative posters (luckily they are in a minority) will believe Nigel is the wrong man to take us forward, I do believe that jumping once again to a new manager would be wrong at this stage. If we stop and look at the bigger picture, Southampton FC will be far better with Nigel long term than without him, just my opinion, but I strongly feel this.

If we look at what Nigel has done over the last two years it has been nothing short of amazing. Whilst (again) the knockers would say that he had the tools to work with in terms of financial backing, I would point out that this does not guarantee success. Look at Leicester last year, they spent a lot of money and had an experienced manager who had worked at international and top league level! This is where the experience argument is also flawed.

Clubs often go down the same route and look at the "experienced" managers and players, sometimes this does not help. Some experience can be a weight upon the shoulders.

I know that some posters repeatedly shout for somebody more experienced to come in and help Nigel, this will never happen in my opinion. I don't think Nigel would welcome any interference into his methodology, Nigel has fronted it up and said he has made mistakes and that he picks the team and formations, so if it goes wrong it is his fault. I think he would rather walk away with his head held high than introduce somebody into the set up who could overshadow what has been achieved.

I know this is a strong statement, but I would be willing for Saints to be a "yo yo" club for a couple of years if needs be. Nigel has Saints in his heart and it is evident he has grown to love the club. If Nicola shows him strong support and loyalty over the next 18 months or so, you can guarantee that Nigel will return the loyalty.

As a club, we have done the same mistakes over and over prior to our current regime. However, I feel we are a different club now. We do not do things like everyone else. I hope we show strength and unity and keep faith with Nigel. In my opinion, the alternatives could be detrimental to our long term plans.

Pompey needs to survive, but only so that other supporters of respectable clubs can look at you lot and feel good about themselves. No matter how poor their club's form or their off field goings on, PFC will always be there to reassure us fans that things could be a lot worse, that at least we've got good business ethics, good infrastucture, backers, players, supporters etc. PFC will be the equivalent of that distant cousin your parents warned you could turn out like if you're not careful - thieving druggie repeat offenders, in and out of prison, doomed to a low life on benefits or a leper colony of a sink estate somewhere in, well.... Innit. Nigel over-achieved massively in getting us promoted last year which does bring it's own problems in that we've got a team that was largely created in League One suddenly being expected to compete in the Premier League.

It'll take us a long time to get up to speed and maybe it won't even happen at this attempt. But I think Nicola is far more loyal and long-term in his thinking than many seem to think.

I remember the article /tv program where they looked at Adkins record before he became our manager.
he was good at getting teams promotion out of the lower league but then got stuck in the championship.
yes he took us one further but that's what he is paid to do.
Unless you were wearing red & white tinted glasses last year you would know our defence wasn't good enough for that league let alone the premiership.
in the end we were lucky not to be in the play offs but WH were & look how well they're playing so why pay out just under £20million on attacking players when it was so obvious our defence needed strengthening?
Why not buy young Schmiechal ?
Why not strengthen the defence & bring in a play maker in midfield?
Then with a good defence if our strikers aren't up to it & we were drawing instead of winning buy a top class striker in the January transfer market but why strengthen an attack when we could & were scoring goals?
Unless we win our next three games I think Adkins is gone.
He says we will work on it in training? so what's happening from training to the game? do the players want to play for him?

What are you talking about? Surely the fact he got us auto promotion without spaffing a load of money on extra players only underlines what a brilliant manager and motivator he is. Yes, we clearly weren't 100% ready for the Premier League but that's the price you pay for being amazing.

Saints have 5 players who are prem standard Lambert, Gully, Ramirez, Hooiveld Gazzaniga . There are 4 grafters, Davis, Puncheon, Font, Clyne. The rest are headless chickens or Playground players, Lallana, Sneiderlin, Fox, Yoshida, Reeves, Shaw, Cork, JRod etc etc.
Their manager organises them and teaches them. They are the worst team in Prem history and the worst defence in Europe.
You can only paint with the colours on your palette but he chose them. There are mitigating circumstances; rapid promotion limited transfer time difficult initial fixtures.
He's gotta get the best from the cards in his hands and he's not: they all stand in the wrong place and do the wrong things. In 5 matches time there is no excuses left, if they are in the bottom three then, then there is no need for the manager?

But look who Adkins was managing!!

How well have they done since he left? I think your point about his record at Scunthorpe shows he over achieved there as well!!

I agree, we all saw our defence was not up to it, but we did add Clyne (who looks superb) and Yoshida. It is well documented that we looked at adding others, some deals never come off. It happens, look at Liverpool, they loaned out a striker in the belief they would get a replacement striker, the deal fell through and they ended up with nothing!!! Deals fall through at all clubs. We have to get on with what we have got.

So if Adkins goes, who would you suggest would be a better option? It's all well to say "sack the manager", but we do need a viable alternative who will be good for our club medium to long term.

Pompey. No money, no ground, no manager, no future, despised by every club and supported in the land. Oh and minus 10 points, 4 to go down.
Why are you so bothered about Pompey ?

I just wanted to comment in advance of saturday's game. I see that the Boruc investigation is now complete.

Now I sit in the Kingsland stand and did not witness the 'bottle chucking allegation' I am not saying it didn't happen - I just didn't see it. I did however witness fans behind the Chapel booing him after that goal went in. I saw him clap the crowd behind him in a 'thanks very much' manner. Quite understandable in my opinion.

What followed was as mentioned unseen or heard by me. However clearly the booing upset him.

I detest the booing of any player. We can boo a decision perhaps but not the player.

This is a plea really for every fan in every stand to give Boruc a good welcome should he be selected - which in my opinion is quite likely. Given where we are, I expect Adders will go for an experienced keeper. Gazza looks good actually and I'd be keen to see him continue - but experience behind the defence will reassure the back four so that may be the call.

So if this happens - come on Saints fans - all in it together - let's give Adkins a rousing reception and the same for Boruc.

Every game is going to be tough and we may get nothing from Swansea (but I think we shall) - but looking at WBA - it was not unlucky - but sometimes the luck turns in your favour. We played well away from home. Hit the bar, should have had a free kick and then a penalty. When the luck turns that will be the difference between 0-2 and 2-0.

keep the faith and not much can be done now til January regards personnel but a fitter Ramirez and just good old hard work should steer us safe. We are much better than the table shows.

Bit less Drambuie in Fonte's water bottle and we might make it til January not relying on a miracle in the transfer market to stay up. The bookies have Saints at 11/8 to beat Swansea. True - no excuses - but if you look at your issues straight in the face you can achieve. If you look at the ground and moan about the situation you will miss the opportunities that come along.

That's the point - no excuses - but get on with it positively - and fans have their part to play in that positivism.

Come on Ted, I appreciate we don't know the facts, but he makes a fair point. Based on historic prices and wages for defenders it is clear that we could have strengthened the defence significantly with the money spent on Ramirez.

Whether that was the right or wrong decision is open to question, but it is a fair statement.

And you can't be serious in saying that (in a two month window) there were no options out there that could have improved on what we already have.

Moaning about it when it is too late doesn't help clearly (although I think we all saw this coming before the start of the season), but it is a fair comment.

Good post.

Bite the bullet, restore Davis as No.1 and keep him there - makes a statement of stability in a very key position. Gazza has done well, but with him in there is always the feeling he will be dropped if he has two bad games. Plus, we need the experience, the players have experience of playing in front of him, and the knowledge that he's saved us on a good few occasions.

Finally, of those starting on Monday, Davis in midfield had the most Premier League experience. That's why I think it is important that, until January, we have our other players with experience in the Prem - Kelvin and Puncheon - on the pitch as much as possible.

Lambert, though he doesn't have that experience, is a similar senior player that I think should be kept on the pitch as a priority, even if that means allowing him to pace himself at times.

If NA doesn't agree, fine, he's the boss, but that's my opinion as a fan and football is all about opinions.

Have only just been able to see the highlights of the WBA match.
The second goal we conceaded was diabolical.
Danny Fox, in their half, had a 5 yard start over a 60 yard foot race.
Completely, seemingly unaware of the situation going on, he appeared to just amble back in the first 20 yards.Only seemed to wake up after Odemwingy went past him.
We cannot continue to play this player
his positive play is completely outweighed by his poor defensive duties.(By far, most of the goals coceeded have been from the oppositions right wing position)
I have to be honest I have never felt he was up to playing in the Prem.
That said, Ihave always hoped that I would be proved to have been wrong.
Alas no!
Cannot play him Saturday we have either to play Clyne there or give Luke Shaw the job.

In all honesty, you can only dream of having a manager of his stature - he's one of the few people who could potentially work the miracles you need with zero funds, as proven by his incredible record with Scunthorpe and us.Unfortunately I don't think you'll be appointing a permanent successor unless someone is willing to do it for free.. and seems like you've run out of people willing to invest the time and effort for what is, essentially, a bunch of crooks behind the scenes.

Agree with most of what you say, good post, not the yo-yo bit though. We must stay in this league!

Nigel is the best man for the job so to change Manager now would not improve anything, we need to get behind him, support him and give him time to turn things around. After 2 fantastic seasons Nigel hasn't suddenly become a bad Manager it's just that the opposition have improved. We need to allow him the time to re-group, improve and turn results around. Apart from the Wigan and Arsenal games, I think the difference between us and the opposition has been minor, argueable we've been the better team for large parts of the game but silly mistakes and some bad luck have conspired against us. Give Nigel time and he will iron out the mistakes and our luck will turn. If the worst happens and we do go down, what's the problem, we start again, fight our way back to the top and try again.

Being a Saints supporter is for life, not just for 1 season. So get behind the Manager and Team and let them take us forwards. If it doesn't happen this year then let's try again next year. I don't know about you but I'm behind them to the final breath so I'd rather have a longer slower sustainable progression than what we've had before and what's happened to our illustrious neighbours down the road!

I must agree with you about Fox, whilst I try and support him whilst on the pitch, he is a player I feel has been a real weak link within our back 4. Too often Yoshida will be coming over to the left to cover or Lallana will need to bust a gut to get back to cover the position.

What was encouraging for me was the introduction of Luke Shaw against WBA. He wasn't on long, but there were a couple of occasions where he was in great defensive positions. He got close to the opposition and blocked the ball and ultimately stopping a cross into the box. I know he wasn't on for long, but he looked quite assured for the short spell he was on the pitch.

JD, I don't doubt for one moment that we wanted to strengthen our defence, my point is that we just may have possibly missed out, for whatever reasons, on some targets; do bear in mind that we signed an international Captain at Centre Half and an international U21 Full back. If we had secured more defensive signings I don't think that would have prevented us signing Ramirez, and the fact that we signed Ramirez did not and will not prevent us strengthening our defence come the January window.

Let me get this straight, I support Nigel and think he has done an amazing job. It is clear we missed the opportunity in the summer to sign Premiership experienced defenders. Are you telling me a Wayne Bridge or Chris Baird would not have been awesome for us?

Why did we let Harding and Hammond go in the summer. I can imagine Hammond charging down WBAs first goal on Monday night with his no nonsense, aggressive style.

I also have some concerns with Nigel and Andy Crosby is there continued insistence to play attacking football away from home? What is stopping us playing 5 at the back? What is stopping us playing Shaw and Fox on one flank with Fraser/Danny and Nat on the right for 70 mins, keeping it tight before bringing on some pace in the last 20 mins to test and stretch tiring defences.

At home, we need to throw the kitchen sink at the opposition from the first minute. Against Spurs, we were too worried about what they were going to do against us in the first half, rarely got to their 18 yard box, and spurs still scored 2 goals..... WRONG TACTICS.

Come on Nigel and Andy, lets bombard teams at home with good football and long balls into the box, lets keep constant pressure on the opposition until they crack. There is no point trying to defend so if we get hit on the break, so be it.

Saints fans must create a cauldron of positive support for the team on Saturday and encourage the team to ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK.

Why is Nigel Adkins taking all of the flack? How are Brian McDermott and Make Hughes not in the firing line? QPR are supposedly an established premier league team and Reading apparently did a great job in the transfer market. Neither have the tough start to season Saints have had and neither much better off than Saints.

COYS

I don't think Fox should be playing at LB, Put Shaw there and put Fox left midfield, he gets forward and can cross a ball, much better suited there and probably better for him to cover Shaw to protect the left flank. A bit more defensive I know but necessary in my opinion

Neil Lennon and Celtic showed the way last night.

Any team and certainly Saints are always capable of a turnaround performance and thats what we need to see this Saturday. Nothing less will do.

Fox up against Dyer is a bit of worry but hopefully Ricki and Gaston will do the damage.

GK must be Gazzanigga.

Can I just ask everybody who reads these threads and goes to the games for two things:

1. If someone in the crowd near you boos a Saints player, can everyone near them please turn round and tell them to shut up, or just cheer twice as loud to drown them out. People power will rid us of the negativity.

2. Similarly, we know we're likely to concede a goal, maybe two, in a match, so when we do, don't automatically assume it's game over and go all quiet and/or start to panic. Keep cheering, get behind the team, because we know we can score goals - conceding one first isn't necessarily the end of th world.

Thanks.

Please do keep feeding them bait, I like them on here. If anything it is a constant reminded of how lucky we are and where we came from three years ago (bankrupt at the foot of League 1 with a 10 point deduction to come).

Be nice to them and have a bit of sensitivity because, should we be relegated, we know that we will be automatically among the favourites to go straight back up.

For Pompey, relegation just means even less funding and the inevitability of total collapse. Seriously, that isn't a great outlook and they need some light relief.

As for Saints, the future's bright, the future's orange.

The existence of delusional jealousy disorder symptoms can be a sign that a person is suffering from a serious condition that will need specific treatment. To be defined as a true delusion, certain requirements must be met by the skunt’s individual problem.

The thoughts that are held must be either impossible or completely false as the first condition, PUP Bestest (TM) loudest, stay to the end, don’t boo Fans in Hampshire.

The second requirement is that they are believed with the utmost conviction , K*nt141 supports Saints and is not a Poopey Scummer. The last requirement is that the patient does not change their mind when faced with arguments that contain proof or evidence that the belief is false.

Over to the rest of you, but don’t reply to the tw@t directly.

Hey Kent, just to prove you're a Saint and not a skunt do you agree to the following:

All skunts should be gassed hard. They are the product of generations of inbreeding on Portsea Island which is a hovel with the lowest literacy rates in the south. Fratton Park is a disease ridden dump and smells of fish. Saints have always been, and will always be, a much better supported and more successful side than the skates.

Ian branfoot good lower leagues was diabolical at saints
Paul sturrock same as above .
Nigel Adkins just as poor top flight but somehow is not allowed to be slated , if at the end of November were still without anymore points he has to go . an before anyone says back to back promotions most of that was down to pardew who started the ball rolling with the majority of the squad , Adkins additions have been poor

Unless we win our next three games I think Adkins is gone.

I did however witness fans behind the Chapel booing him after that goal went in. I saw him clap the crowd behind him in a 'thanks very much' manner. Quite understandable in my opinion.

I really think you should have stuck to rugger old chap

Which part of 'we tried to sign a different LB and CB and GK but the deals fell through' are you finding it hard to understand
Put yourself in Butners place Would you sign for Fergusson or Adkins?

If you think Schmiechmal would have been a good buy then ask yourself why he has had 7 (I think) clubs in such a short space of time Wouldn't be because he's disruptive element would it

We were not lucky to get auto promotion It was because we were more consistant than all bar Reading And how well are they doing?
why would a pompey make himself to be saints fan,im pretty sure no saints fan would do vice versa ,there is about 4 of you doing it ,what a sad group of people .it just highlights how hard it must be to be a portsmouth fan,i cannot see any saints fans going on the news claiming to be a skunt.it just has laughable your as your administration and you could not even pay wages on the news every day in the premier league .and you lot reckon were a laughing stock really .we are paying 20. to 25.000 a week and we get 27 to 31.000 ,not paying 60.000 when we only get 17.000 and stlll paying 35.000 in the champioship ,now your paying fot it still another manager as jumped ship.10 poits off soon and your heading for league 2 ,can you blame mike appleton.now he is at a btter club with real fans .a club that runs by its own means,he has much better players better training ground ,you all love the saints dont you deep down ,is this to compensate for the soon loss of your club ,stid

Even in the face of such adversity he's holding his head high and giving it everything.

His final comment in the BBC article speaks volumes of the man - he's not letting this go without a fight.
I often wonder when a manager is sacked how much of it is the club saying 'go' and the manager saying 'I've had enough'
any media statement is always massaged to give the best possible result

Well Nigel can't say Cortese is ignoring his wishes.
Nigel said he didn't want a vote of confidence and Cortese certainly hasn't given him one!
On the contrary the article reads very much like Nigel is giving Cortese a vote of confidence.
Maybe Nigel recalls what happened to his predecessor, a successful, strong minded manager under Cortese and is just lapping up to NC to keep his job.

You seem to have missed some threads so I guess can be forgiven for not being up to speed. Quote from The Times "Southampton’s supporters made their views clear at The Hawthorns on Monday night by chanting relentlessly in favour of their manager as his team drifted towards perhaps their most disappointing defeat of the campaign, 2-0 against West Bromwich Albion. Their view, whether out of affection, loyalty or simply an enthusiasm for his devotion to principles of youth, home-grown talent and attacking football, is shared by many" This blows your lies into a cocked hat methinks.

Good to see you back Force how are Pompey currently getting on in league 1? Do you have new owners yet? Is Fratton Park sold out for every game? Do you have players on contracts longer than this season? How is the managerial situation looking? I heard a certain manager has upped sticks and gone up north. Have your fans been continuously backing your time for 90 minutes or have they left after 80? Have any of your fans booed the team off?

Agree
Fox must be dropped in favour of Shaw, he is constantly caught out of position and lacks pace to get goal-side again. Check out how many goals we've conceded through his area.
Even his corners are c**p this season!
Whoever plays there also needs much more help from midfield, this is one part of Lallana's game that needs drastic improvement

I do tend to agree that Shaw might be up for the job (first saw him in a pre-season game and thought he looked very assured)...it's a big ask for a young lad to take the position...but I think he'll be ok.

Dyer will skin Fox alive, so if Nigel has learnt one thing it is that Fox cannot be selected, and must be replaced in on the first day of the January sales.

Good in the championship but too slow for the prem and the same goes for Fonte.

I've written God knows how many times about my past & none of it occurred in portsmouth or supporting them.
I went to home & away games right up until we got relegated then I went to as many as I could in the 2nd division I went to the 76 FA Cup final & saw us win I also went to the League Cup Final & the Charity shield. I watched as we got promoted but had to quit as I was with the wrong crowd so to avoid getting into any more trouble I joint the TA.
I went up to the Chelsea game under the East stand as I remembered no trouble there ?
Big mistake had to fight of Chelsea fans So that was that carried on with TA my bro committed suicide so I quit the TA then I got asked to play Rugby which I loved as a school boy ( Bellemoor boys) got asked to go to the Zenith Data cup & we lost by the same score to the same team that we lost to when it was the League Cup.
So Please EXPLAIN to me how the hell I'm a Skate?

That opinion is a bit too simplistic, NA may appear to be out of his depth at the moment, but that is down to having no previous Premier experience, no telling that he won't be capable of learning quick enough to turn the tables. I am not a total idiot as you seem to infer that anyone that has a different view to yours is to be labelled. The analogy that you quote that the players and coaching staff can work it out, no doubt they can, but they need a leader to guide them through it, it's a team game and everyone has to be on the same wavelength to make it tick, no room for slackers in the Premier, you give 100% or you lose. We are not as you say, a great Club yet, but we could darn well be if Nicolas dream is realised, never forget his words, they were built on a desire to succeed for Markus Liebherr, not on hot air or financial gain reasons. We don't need this negative criticism, it serves no purpose, if your opinions mean that you feel that you cannot share the desire for the Club to succeed I suggest you take a back seat for a while and watch what transpires. Rant over, your turn to flame me if you feel that way, I won't be offended.

Cortese quotes: In case you have forgotten: 2009 "I realise that there are great expectations and I will ensure that every effort is expended to meet these expectations, but effectively we need to restructure and create a solid base from which we can build and become successful. This will take time. We will take our example from our supporters, who already are what we aim to become – Premier League. With their support we will again become a Premier League Club. The supporters, the City of Southampton and the region deserve nothing less. Everyone at the Club will be fully committed to responding to this great challenge". And "Clubs spend money they do not have; they spend next year’s income. They spend money that will not arrive for two years and say, "But we'll have some success and bring in more cash to cover the shortfall". It cannot be sustained. In good times you need to be saving money for the bad times. If we reach the Premier League, I would like to be in a position where we did not need parachute payments. In good years you should put money away for the bad years". ---- Doesn't sound like a meglomaniac to me.

oh and can we get over this fox is rubish business. yes he has made mistakes, but who hasnt? clyne has made more than enough, fell over twice in the manure game, the difference is clyne gets cover from punch (even though he cant tackle) however lalla gives next to no help to fox. even when clyne played lb we still conceded goals. and as for most of our oppos goals coming from that side, well it is the oppos right side! if you look at most teams they are better on the right than the left. i am not saying fox is a great player and is infallible, i am just saying, as i did after the wba game, that fox needs cover. i have lost count of the amount of times he is left 2 on 1. even if NA does play shaw, as some are calling for, if he gets no cover he will get done. i hope if shaw plays he does well and yes better than fox. we either need to get lalla to learn to cover more or stick someone else on the left with lalla behind rickie/j-rod.

He says we will work on it in training? so what's happening from training to the game? do the players want to play for him?

Paul Ince? what about Alan Shearer maybe not?
There must be a good manager who would love a go at Premier football ( Bournemouths guy?).

I also can't imagine having a manager who couldn't get away fast enough after getting booed by his own supporters the night before and also having a ground that when spelt backwards says nottarf krap which is kind of apt I suppose.
Even so that must be a tad embarrassing even for inbred wannabe John Westwwod w@nkers who need a good Jimmy Saville seeing to.
I also can't imagine trying to buy your own club with less than 2,000 of the bestest ever greatest most bestest and greatest fans ever TM when most have only pledged the initial £100 but have no intentions of actually paying £1000 as the social won't give it to them.
That must be a tad embarrassing even for the prepubescent fish f@cking tw@ts that post utter sh1te on another teams site because they are such sad little westwood wannabe w@nkers

Top post, agree with most of this. Stability is the key here. Knee jerk reaction after 10 difficult games won't benefit the long term plan.

We do need to pick up points over the coming weeks though or confidence will be further affected. The best we can do to help is remain united behind the team, manager and chairman.

We've had some of the best success over the past 3 seasons, survival this season would add to that success.

Lets all enjoy the game on Saturday and urge the team on to victory.

Force 14 - what's that? Yr age or yr IQ? Perhaps the number of actual pledges to the PST that aren't actually fictional? Maybe it's a reference to the number of fans who DIDN'T boo their team off on Monday night, given that everyone else had left long before the final whistle? Tell you what chap, you keep the drivel coming, it's just ammunition for us in the end. Amazed that you are so generous really. Thanks!

Do they not check ID in the sh1t hole that is skuntsville like other more civilised cities in this country do.
He must stand out a mile with his spotty face and westwood pj's and slippers on.
I wonder if he rode his funny bike with the wonky wheels as well.
That will be gone when he comes out half p1ssed on half a shandy giving it the large one

If it wasn't for Nicola Cortese's vision we may have found ourselves in the same precarious position as many other clubs.

People clearly find him an easy target because he keeps his cards close to his chest so they make up stories and speculate without fact. Personally I think we should trust his judgement and let him get on with the vision and journey. The last three seasons have been the most enjoyable for me personally for a number of years.

I did say Cortese has never said anything but apparently according to ospreysaint he made an announcement in 2009!
If talking is part of his 5 year plan perhaps we, the paying customers, can expect a few words from him in 2014.
I can hardly wait!!
