Twenty years in undercover and serious organised crime was the subject of the speaker at the Redditch Society on Friday, November 30.
A unusual and thought provoking talk by an ex-officer of Her Majesty's Customs and Excise Department  Cameron Addicott (not his given name).

We might have thought prior to this talk that we possibly understood how dangerous drug dealers operated, but Mr Addicott led us into the world of the dedicated work undertaken by HMCE which involved months of surveillance often out of the country, sometimes using boats or yachts in tracking down criminals on the continent and further afield.
The dedicated work undertaken by these officers was partly explained to us, for of course, these practices in bringing drug and money laundering criminals to book is ever onward and secrecy has to be maintained.

The subterfuge required and sometimes actual infiltration into these gangs to effect an arrest was another world brought to the members of the Redditch Society.
On Friday, December 14, our talk will be given by Helen Lee, of the Discover History Society who will guide us through her subject of a Victorian
Christmas. At the conclusion members and guests will be invited to partake in the festive board provided by members of the Redditch Society.

Doors will be open at 7pm, the  actual talk will begin at 7.30pm and a very warm welcome is extended to all.
A very varied programme is scheduled for the new year.
