We should have built a 40k stadium to start with -- the expansion option is part of the design, but it's still costly to carry it out.

We wouldn't get 40 every week, perhaps, but with more aggressive pricing we would get close. And we would pack it out for bigger games.

For this weekend I predict a hard fought, bloodied draw. It will be too much for gazza, so I agree with sticking with kelv for this one. He know how to handle getting roughed up.

I think the years of only having 15k capacity cost us a generation of supporters. Dad didn't take son.

I bought a business in Newcastle a few weeks back. Do you know the population is less than Southampton? Ok add in Gateshead and its bigger. You never meet anyone from Newcastle who supports another team, some might not go to the games but they all support the Toons. I bought a business in Portsmouth last year, only 3 of their staff supported the skates.

I think 32,600 is probably about right for the next two seasons in the PL. Once we have re-established ourselves as a top 8 side the amount of fans wanting to watch the Saints will swell and out weigh the capacity. We should then increase the capacity by 8,000 to 40,600 and then a further 8,000 within a couple of seasons to 48,600 when we are breaking into the top six and winning a trophy or two and playing European football.
I think 48,000 each week will be enough for the following 5 years or so.
When we are playing Champions League football regularly I feel it will be time to move to a band new 60,000 stadium that will be the football mecca of the South Coast and we will continue to attract fans from catchment areas across the South and further afield.
St Marys could be sold to Eastleigh and Totton to ground share who by then will be in the same league as the skunts and get home gates of 20,000 plus in League 2 when Saints are playing away.
I got a crystal ball for Christmas and that's what I'm seeing.....:o)

St Marys could be sold to Eastleigh and Totton to ground share who by then will be in the same league as the skunts and get home gates of 20,000 plus in League 2 when Saints are playing away.
I got a crystal ball for Christmas and that's what I'm seeing.....:o)

We should have built a 40k stadium to start with -- the expansion option is part of the design, but it's still costly to carry it out.

We wouldn't get 40 every week, perhaps, but with more aggressive pricing we would get close. And we would pack it out for bigger games.

For this weekend I predict a hard fought, bloodied draw. It will be too much for gazza, so I agree with sticking with kelv for this one. He know how to handle getting roughed up.

Why not a 60000 capacity , remember the glorious support at the paint tin final .

Look, Rebuild it now up to 40k at that location, move Toys R Us to the St Marys location - the kids will love a riverside area, maybe build a new restaurant there - the company would make an absolute killing.

Just need to rename the new stadium. I suggest..... Trophy R Us.

We should then increase the capacity by 8,000 to 40,600 and then a further 8,000 within a couple of seasons to 48,600 when we are breaking into the top six and winning a trophy or two and playing European football.
I think 48,000 each week will be enough for the following 5 years or so.

Thr Toys R Us site is a non starter, in my opinion, the traffic in the area is already seriously bad and will be even worse shortly if current plans come to fruition, and Parking would an expensive nightmare, the only thing going for it is the location of the Railway Station and few want to use it, too lazy to get out of their cars. Stoneham as a site was feasible, but the original Stadium was too small. You could never get the assorted Councils to agree to it anyway.

We should then increase the capacity by 8,000 to 40,600 and then a further 8,000 within a couple of seasons to 48,600 when we are breaking into the top six and winning a trophy or two and playing European football.
I think 48,000 each week will be enough for the following 5 years or so.
When we are playing Champions League football regularly I feel it will be time to move to a band new 60,000 stadium that will be the football mecca of the South Coast and we will continue to attract fans from catchment areas across the South and further afield.
St Marys could be sold to Eastleigh and Totton to ground share who by then will be in the same league as the skunts and get home gates of 20,000 plus in League 2 when Saints are playing away.
I got a crystal ball for Christmas and that's what I'm seeing.....:o)

The new ground should have gone where Toys-r-us is.

Look, Rebuild it now up to 40k at that location, move Toys R Us to the St Marys location - the kids will love a riverside area, maybe build a new restaurant there - the company would make an absolute killing. Just need to rename the new stadium. I suggest..... Trophy R Us. It's certainly got a certain something I feel.

Thr Toys R Us site is a non starter, in my opinion, the traffic in the area is already seriously bad and will be even worse shortly if current plans come to fruition, and Parking would an expensive nightmare, the only thing going for it is the location of the Railway Station and few want to use it, too lazy to get out of their cars. Stoneham as a site was feasible, but the original Stadium was too small. You could never get the assorted Councils to agree to it anyway.

Some one suggested the Ford factory site a few weeks back. Pie in the sky...but it would be perfect.

I think 32,600 is probably about right for the next two seasons in the PL. Once we have re-established ourselves as a top 8 side the amount of fans wanting to watch the Saints will swell and out weigh the capacity. We should then increase the capacity by 8,000 to 40,600 and then a further 8,000 within a couple of seasons to 48,600 when we are breaking into the top six and winning a trophy or two and playing European football.
I think 48,000 each week will be enough for the following 5 years or so.
When we are playing Champions League football regularly I feel it will be time to move to a band new 60,000 stadium that will be the football mecca of the South Coast and we will continue to attract fans from catchment areas across the South and further afield.
St Marys could be sold to Eastleigh and Totton to ground share who by then will be in the same league as the skunts and get home gates of 20,000 plus in League 2 when Saints are playing away.
I got a crystal ball for Christmas and that's what I'm seeing.....:o)

I think the years of only having 15k capacity cost us a generation of supporters. Dad didn't take son.

I bought a business in Newcastle a few weeks back. Do you know the population is less than Southampton? Ok add in Gateshead and its bigger. You never meet anyone from Newcastle who supports another team, some might not go to the games but they all support the Toons. I bought a business in Portsmouth last year, only 3 of their staff supported the skates.

Look, Rebuild it now up to 40k at that location, move Toys R Us to the St Marys location - the kids will love a riverside area, maybe build a new restaurant there - the company would make an absolute killing. Just need to rename the new stadium. I suggest..... Trophy R Us. It's certainly got a certain something I feel.

Thr Toys R Us site is a non starter, in my opinion, the traffic in the area is already seriously bad and will be even worse shortly if current plans come to fruition, and Parking would an expensive nightmare, the only thing going for it is the location of the Railway Station and few want to use it, too lazy to get out of their cars. Stoneham as a site was feasible, but the original Stadium was too small. You could never get the assorted Councils to agree to it anyway.

Some one suggested the Ford factory site a few weeks back. Pie in the sky...but it would be perfect.

Great location actually. I think as a mark of respect to Ford you should name it after one of their models, maybe you could get Ford sponsorship as well.

I suggest the Ford Escape Stadium - named after all those years in the top flight escaping relegation.
