N'Zonzi red card appeal successful

Steven N'Zonzi is sent off against Saints Steven N'Zonzi is sent off against Saints

Stoke have successfully appealed the red card shown to midfielder Steve N'Zonzi in the 3-3 draw with Saints.

N'Zonzi was sent off by referee Mark Clattenburg for serious foul play, following a late tackle on Jack Cork in the closing stages of the game at the Britannia Stadium last Saturday.

Although he caught the Saints player with the knee of his trailing leg, replays suggested it was a harsh decision.

Stoke confirmed on the evening of the match that they had appealed the card and the subsequent three-match ban, with the Football Association announcing that their claim of wrongful dismissal had been upheld.

Surprised by this. Looked like petulent intent to exact revenge for previous incident, regardless of outcome.
Not surprised by Stoke's disciplinary record, given their aggressive playing style

looked from where i was that there was intent to injure therefore the red should have stood but heh who am i, i am not a ref and don't want to be because i still have not seen a decent ref at sms.

Yes, he didn't actually snap Cork's leg in half, but that was only cos Corky managed to move at the last minute, the intent was there for sure, should have stood

Hate to think if he had made contact another Aron Ramsey at the Britannia, still i expect Pulis would have defended it like he did Shawcross after that one

So every time a player gets a red card the club can appeal and they just carry on playing? No, the FA knew this would be appealed because the ref admitted he may have got it wrong straight after the game and they knew they would overturn it. Slightly different situation to most red cards. Brown noser. I bet you were one of the 50% who wanted Gazza in goal too.
