West Ham are believed to be one of three Premier League clubs chasing the signature of Middlesbrough defender George Friend.
The £100,000 summer signing from Doncaster Rovers has played a pivotal role in Middlesbrough’s strong start to the season.
Reports claim that representatives from West Ham travelled to Leicester City to watch the man from Devon play in Boro’s 1-0 loss to the Foxes.
The versatile 25-year-old, who can play at both centre and left-back, has also sparked interest from West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City.
