Coutinho signs for Liverpool

Daily Echo: Philippe Coutinho. Philippe Coutinho.

Liverpool have completed the £8.5million signing of former Saints target Philippe Coutinho from Inter Milan.

The 20-year-old Brazilian has signed a "long-term deal", the Premier League club announced, after completing his medical and acquiring a work permit, which was the final hurdle in the process.

Coutinho, an attacking midfielder, has appeared only once for his country over two years ago but has played internationally from under-17 level.

Inter wanted to sell him rather than him wanting to leave them.

I wouldn't sign anyone who said he didn't actually want to come to the club, so Liverpool are welcome to him, however good he might be.

COYR, let's keep those shocks coming and beat Man U tonight.
