fair play on the glass half full etcetc but we always raise our game for the big teams then sometimes look ordinary and struggle against the lesser teams such as villa they are awfull and we only just scraped 3 points , wigan beat us easilly a few months ago we never showed up , lets hope tomo s different ! if we lose we are in the mire up to our necks , nigel had come along way with these boys and its probably fair to say the boys looked up to nigel he could pick em up and put em together again after a loss lets hope a guy that barely speaks our languge and barely has any bond what so ever with the boys can do what nigel did with em . lets see what happens when mauricio s honeymoon periods over . 3 points tomo or we in freefall !!

Totally agree with above post! The squad overall does not look top class in depth and a couple of key signings were needed. Ah well don't say I didn't warn you!

Sensible approach, too many are quick to criticise, but slow to praise, and only time will reveal how right or wrong the decisions have been, as we cannot change anything now, we are stuck with it. All you can do is get behind the Club, the Team,and the Management and show your support as best as you can, but I think I may have said that before, so apologies if I appear to be a bit repetitive.

One of the reasons MP was brought in was because of his strong work with youth and bringing youth players into the first team. Having a more European mindset is obviously another but it is not necessarily to bring in European players, rather to have the current team thinking and playing more along those lines.

There is a chance that the selfish attitude of not letting Hooper go to have a chance to improve his lot will backfire, just a thought. I am not sure if he would be good enough for an England call up, he won't get it at Celtic. We gave up a long time ago when we realised that we couldn't get blood out of stone. Playing in a League basically bereft of any quality is not very good for your future European excursions, they will just be short lived, enjoy them while you can. Our attitude towards our players is our business not yours, have your lot ever hounded players out through bigotted bias, I think if I delved deep enough I would find plenty, it is part of the rich tapestry of football supporting, no call to be judgemental when your own history is no different from any other.

The squad is good enough for survival, I am sure of that. Some of the players need to be shipped out in time, I'm also sure of that. You get ripped off in this transfer window for not necessarily the best available. The start of next season in the prem will be when Cortose releases the funds to go to the next level.

By the amount of players going out on loan, i think M.P. knows what senior players will be shipped out in the summer, and then will be the time to buy and bring through the young players from the under 21's.

Three points tomorrow would give everyone on here a lift and maybe they would get behind SOUTHAMPTON FOOTBALL CLUB as one.

There is far more going on at our club than just a change of manager and it's not about importing a load of celeb players either.
The purpose here is to change the ethos of the club. To make Southampton Football Club the focal point and not the personalities involved within.
By evolving a system of play and training youth players in that system you reduce the risk of disruption by a change of personnel and ensure stability and growth. Even Messi comes second place to the club that is Barcelona and if personalities leave, the club suffers little (i.e. Pep Guardiola)
This is what has started with us, it will take time and no doubt be a bumpy road, but ultimately, if it can be achieved, will deliver success. Exciting times!

True story. In 1987 I was roped into playing for the DailyEcho footie team at very short notice (must have been desperate!) to play against the News team at Cams Alders Fareham. The big joke in the DE team was that all the DE journos were all Pompey fans. The two I knew certainly were, but that was in the days where Saints were established top dogs. Maybe things haven't changed and this forum is just a gigantic wind-up.
