Adkins among the favourites for Forest job

Nigel Adkins has been installed as one of the early favourites to take over as manager of Nottingham Forest following Alex McLeish’s departure today.

McLeish exited the City Ground by mutual consent after just 40 days in charge of the Championship club.

The former Scotland, Rangers, Birmingham and Aston Villa boss is understood to have been frustrated at the lack of transfer activity in January, leading to tensions with the owners.

Adkins, who was sacked as Saints manager last month, is currently second favourite with the bookmakers to replace McLeish, behind former Forest boss Billy Davies.

I think Nigel would prefer the Huddersfield job as they have a good set up and a wealthy owner.

Having looked at all those who have been linked for the Forest job mind....surely the Daily Echo reporters would be far better suited?....afterall judgig by the recent reports they believe they know the game inside and out and have played the game?.

They don't support Saints anyhow...so they won't miss anything?....haha.

if he wants it I hope he gets it, but I hope there are bigger things ahead for our Nigel

I think Forest would be good for Nigel because it would be something different, but not too different to our plight a couple of years ago, ignoring the fact they are a league above.

Why would Adkins want to walk into the mess that Forest has become?

Apparently, Adkins was rumoured to have been wanted by three clubs, Blackpool, Huddersfield and now Nottingham Forest.

There's still no words from Adkins publicly since his sacking and had gone too quiet.

He had said he had taken a holiday but I wonder if he finished his free time by now.

I wonder if he has plans for the future yet?

The comment from our players was that were really surprised.. stories of stale training came out and circulated.. it wasn't the scene we fans had pictured... none of us not in the fold would know the truth but the fact is Nigel Adkins achieved great things in a short space of time.
If you owned a club would you snap him up.. Chelsea? Forest? Hudders?
I think he's perfect for Hudders as development boss for Chelsea with a view to taking on the gaffership in a year or two.

On a personal basis I wish Nigel Adkins every success working at whichever club he chooses.
I also hope he finds an employer who will appreciate the ability he has shown during his relatively short managerial career.
Good luck for the future.

I hope Nigel avoids Forest, he deserves a team with the full support of the owners, what's the point of becoming manager if you won't be in full control of the team, which the Forest owners seem to not understand i.e. the George Boyd issue.
