THE Cotswold hills will come alive to the sound of the Alps on Sunday as part of Chipping Norton’s annual music festival.
Musician Frances Jones will be sharing her enthusiasm for the alphorn at the Town Hall, telling the story of the unusual instrument, which was originally used to call to livestock in the mountains, and giving the audience a chance to play it.
As well as the Amazing Alphorn event, the festival features the traditional classes for music and drama, concerts and workshops for primary school pupils.
The festival starts on Friday at 6pm with a youth jazz band challenge at Chipping Norton School, and culminates in the festival highlights concert on Saturday, March 23.
For more information about the festival programme, see cnmf.org.uk or visit Jaffe & Neale bookshop in Middle Row, Chipping Norton, where tickets for the concerts are also on sale.
