Sorry to see the state town is in

10:54am Monday 1st April 2013

I have lived in Weymouth my entire life and love my home town, so am very sad to see the sorry state it is in today.

It would seem that Weymouth and Portland Borough Council is hell bent on allowing our lovely town to go steadily downhill.

If any visitors should come this year, they will be faced with boarded up shops – probably due to the high rent and rates – and possibly a boarded up Pavilion – what an eyesore that would be on our lovely seafront.

Is it not possible for it to be kept open at least for the summer?

Will Condor come back? Will the works be completed on time? Or will that be another derelict site?

And poor Ryan Hope is desperately trying to produce a carnival and air show and struggling for support. What a shame that the previous organisers do not feel able to help.

It is a huge task for one so young, but I have every confidence that Ryan will succeed, with supoport from local businesses. It would be terrible to not have carnival day – it brings in money to the town and makes lots of money for charity.

I feel for the many businesses in Weymouth who must be finding things tough at the moment. We can only hope that the Weymouth BID is able to turn things around.
