Phil Arnold, of Derwent Arms ‘B’, holds the upper hand in the race to be division ‘A’s house champion in the Malton & Norton League.

Arnold holds a two-point lead over holder Jamie Barstow, of Union ‘A’. Barstow has a game in hand but will be helpless if Arnold wins his two remaining matches. Ian Davison, of Blue Ball ‘A’, is in pole position to be division ‘B’s house champion as he is a point ahead with a game in hand over Spotted Cow’s Simon Johnson.

In the race for the player of the season gong, Wayne Taylor, of Union ‘A’, holds a one-point lead in division ‘A’ after winning 28 frames out of 37. Steve Beal, of Malton Cons, is second and there are a trio of players a further point behind in third.

Division ‘B’s stats are just as close as Pete Atkinson (Bright Steels ‘B’) holds a point advantage with a record of 24 wins out of 30 frames. Simon Johnson (Spotted Cow) is second on 23 wins with two people tied for joint third on 21.

In a rearranged division ‘A’ match, Blue Ball ‘A’ fell to earth after last week’s highs as they were defeated 5-2 by Hyde Park ‘B’, a result which eases Park’s relegation worries. In division ‘B’, Gate Inn edged Railway Tavern ‘B’ 4-3 to move up to seventh place.
