SAINTS legend Matt Le Tissier made his return to competitive football tonight – turning out at as second half substitute for his native Guernsey.

The 44-year-old, who retired from professional football in 2002, came on for the last ten minutes of his home side’s 4-2 defeat in their Combined Counties League Premier Division clash with Colliers Wood United.

Le Tissier, who scored 162 goals in a career spanning 16 years with Saints, agreed to come out of retirement to help his home club after a host of postponed fixtures left them with a major fixture backlog.

An honorary president of the Channel Island side, Le Tissier had previously said he would be prepared to don his boots once again to help the club out after they were left with 17 fixtures to play in April.
