A bankrupt Bingley man has been jailed for six months for transferring almost £30,000 to his partner to try to avoid paying his creditors.
James Ferguson, 48, of High Eldwick, was sentenced at Bradford Crown Court for fraudulently disposing of an asset and ordered to pay £4,500 costs.
Investigations found that at a time when two creditors were pursuing him for debt, he transferred £29,920 to partner Gillian Calvert.
Thirteen days later, he declared himself bankrupt in an attempt to cancel out these creditors’ claims against him.
