MORE than £2,200 raised during an alternative Olympic torch relay has been handed to two charities.
The Tendring Jubilee Torch Relay was set up by district councillor Peter Balbirnie after the district was snubbed by London 2012 organisers.
Only about 100 metres of the Ardleigh ward, which borders Colchester, was included in the official route.
Last week cheques were presented to the Multiple Sclerosis Society and Grassroots charities at a ‘thank you’ tea at Little Clacton Village Hall.
