Kelvin Davis was delighted his season ended as it started – between the posts.
The veteran keeper begun the campaign as the club’s number one, but found himself competing with Paolo Gazzaniga before playing second fiddle to Artur Boruc since the turn of the year.
However, the Polish stopper was surprisingly left of the squad to face Stoke and Davis was back in.
“I very much enjoyed it,” he said. “It’s always a pleasure to put a Saints shirt on and no more so than the final game of the season.
“It would have been nice to go out with a win but it wasn’t to be.
“I enjoyed it never the less.”
Davis has been through all the recent ups and downs at Saints, including two amazing final days when the club have been promoted.
This final day was a bit different though.
“We said in the dressing room when we came in there was a bit of a lull – one because we didn’t get the win and two because we have had so much to celebrate before,” he reflected.
“It’s kind of a positive negative.
“We feel we can achieve more and we look forward to that next season.”
