BAD weather failed to blow Nailsworth mum Fiona White off course when she scaled 24 peaks in 24 hours.
Fiona, 41, took on the challenge in the Lake District to raise money for research into her son’s rare medical condition.
Callum, 12, a pupil at Sir William Romney’s School, was born with congenital melanocytic naevus which can cause brain damage, developmental delay and cancerous tumours. He is seen by specialists at Great Ormond Street Hospital every six months and has already had two lumps removed from his arm.
Fiona and a group of other parents raised £20,000 for Caring Matters Now, a charity which supports CMN sufferers and their families, by completing the challenge in June.
"I was expecting to find the walk hard even though I had prepared well with help from Personal Best fitness studio in South Woodchester and long walks around the Nailsworth valleys," said Fiona, who lives in Inchbrook.
"But the first day was dreadful with fog, wind, rain and freezing temperatures adding to the misery of getting up at 4am.
"It really made me question whether I could carry on but I am proud to say that I completed the challenge."
