Saints are waiting on the fitness of Luke Shaw ahead of this weekend’s game against Swansea.

The left back has missed training this week due to illness and will undergo a fitness check tomorrow morning to see whether he is likely to be to face Swansea at St Mary’s on Sunday.

If he doesn’t make then Mauricio Pochettino has Danny Fox on stand-by and could also consider switching Nathaniel Clyne from right back and drafting in Calum Chambers.

He said: “We have worked very well during the week.

“We had a little problem with Luke Shaw who was ill during the week.

“He has recovered now and we will see whether he is fit for the game.”

Pochettino added: “We are just thinking about the next game.

“We need to keep on winning to maintain the position we’ve got.

“There is a lot of the league left now so we just have to focus on the next match.”

i know it is not fully about saints or football but i think this is just......

Hey guys, I'm not sure if you've heard but a lad in Coventry, aged just 15, tragically list his battle with cancer this morning, his poor sister had to be brought out of lessons to be told her brother was dead, I'm sure you'll all agree 15 is no age to go.

I was wondering if it would be possible for you to spread the word throughout your sets of fans and give him a minutes applause on the 15th minute, I know you didn't know him but in times like this football unites as a family, R.I.P to Ross Emslie

as far as i can work out he was a sky blues fan. imo this is where the football ferternity come together.

spread the work guys to see if we can make this happen.

That's very tragic and sad. Trying not to sound mean but... Would any of the season ticket holders at saints who die from cancer get a minute applause? Afraid not. Never gonna happen for a non-footballing member of the public unfortunately!

No, he isn't a sick note. It is an intricate plan to protect our young talent devised by Jesus and Poch. Whenever internationals are played he feigns hurty finger or something just as bad.

You'll find a lot of those sick notes are strategic. it happens all the time.

look at Torres - FA said they couldn't do anything cos the ref dealt with the incident during the game, but all of a sudden he's picked up an injury that's probably going to keep him out for.... three matches......

And personally - if I were at the game I would applaud in the 15th minute.

Come to think of it, we haven't tried Guly at Left Back yet, and apart from GK we have played him most positions that don't actually suit his style of play!
