Mauricio Pochettino has called on his Saints side to be confident but not complacent as they resume league duty at champions Manchester United on Saturday.

After seven games of the season Saints sit above United in the table in the lofty position of fourth.

A trip to Old Trafford is next on the cards and Pochettino said: “One thing is to be confident, another is to be complacent.

“We have to be confident but not complacent and work very hard to get something out of this game.

“It’s clear that we have won three and if we get another win teams are already looking at us in a different manner and respecting us a little bit more.”

He added: “It’s clear that Manchester United are a great side.

“They have shown in the last few years that they are one of the best sides in Europe.

“It’s a game we are looking forward to playing and it’s going to be a very difficult test for us.”
