Saints striker Emmanuel Mayuka on goal-den run

Daily Echo: Emmanuel Mayuka Emmanuel Mayuka

On-loan Saints striker Emmanuel Mayuka has hit a rich vein of form with French club Sochaux, scoring three goals in as many games in Ligue 1.

The Zambian attacker, who was shipped out of St Mary’s at the beginning of September after scoring his first, and only, goal for the club in the Capital One Cup 5-1 win over Barnsley, has been in inspired form for his new charges.

Sochaux are currently rock-bottom of the league and were beaten 5-1 by Toulouse on Saturday, although the 23-year-old did open the scoring.

The striker has also notched a vital goal in a 1-1 draw with Bastia, while he also netted in Sochaux’s 2-1 loss to Marseille.

In contrast, Dani Osvaldo and Rickie Lambert have failed to muster a goal for Saints in the defeats to Arsenal and Chelsea.

good on him.

hopefully it means he gets some good experience which might, in the future, enable him to return to Saints and fit in to what Poch is doing.
If not then I wish him all the best for the future.

not really much else to say here I think

This is the French league so don't get excited. If we were prepared to buy him in the first place he should easily be good enough for their league. Mayuka is there to ensure he stays fit and retains some asset value on the Saints books, that should make sure we get a return on him when we sell him.

As Don Cortese would say it's business not personal.

Forgotten about him. Not sure we should be dismissing French football so readily. Sure it's not the prem league but a great many prem league managers seem to be finding prospects for their first eleven from the Froggy league. Worth monitoring.
