THE next big name for the 2014 Leeds Festival will be announced by organisers Festival Republic at Monday evening’s official press launch in Leeds.

Already confirmed for headline slots at the festival at Bramham Park, from August 22 to 24, are Arctic Monkeys, once of Sheffield, now relocated to Los Angeles, and perennial festival favourites from America, Blink-182.

Alex Turner’s Arctic Monkeys will be back on Yorkshire home soil on the back of winning the BRIT awards for Best British Group and Best British Album for AM last month. Along with the sister event, the Reading Festival, this will be their only headline festival appearance of 2014. The exact night that each headliner will play will be revealed at Monday evening’s event.

Jake Bugg, Disclosure, Metronomy, Of Mice & Men, Wilkinson and I Am Legion are early signings for the August Bank Holiday event, as are Courteeners, The 1975, You Me At Six, SBTRKT, Warpaint, Netsky, Annie Mac and Royal Blood.

After sold-out crowds at last summer’s Leeds Festival, fans need to crack on with booking tickets on 0871 231 0821 or online leedsfestival.com

• LEEDS Festival organisers Festival Republic and the Bramham Park Estate are taking extra measures to maintain and improve the festival site to counteract any extreme weather in the future.

Site improvements will be better drainage in Piccadilly Circus; better walkways and routes for Traders Alley and Gypsy Lane; improved and increased roadways for the Red car parks; hard standing at the drop-off and pick-up point; and road sweepers working along the entry and exit gates.

Bramham Park owner Nick Lane Fox says: “We obviously cannot control the weather, but what we have done aims to alleviate its effects.”
