Saints midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin is a doubt for the trip to Tottenham this Sunday.
The Frenchman, who scored in last weekend’s 4-2 win over Norwich, is struggling with a muscular injury.
With Jack Cork and Victor Wanyama also injured, Saints might be short on options for the defensive midfield role.
James Ward-Prowse is likely to continue there, while Steven Davis could drop back to partner him, or teenager Harrison Reed brought in.
Guly do Prado is also a concern for the visit to White Hart Lane.
Saints manager Mauricio Pochettino said: “The only bad news today is that Morgan Schneiderlin and Guly have also been added to the doubtful list, aside from Kelvin Davis, Victor Wanyama and Jack Cork.
“We need to assess their fitness ahead of the game on Sunday, and then there’s also a few other players that perhaps are doubts.”
