WIDENING the amount of people referred for varicose vein and fertility treatment features in new NICE guidelines that Crewe people are being invited to comment on.
South Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group is seeking public opinion on whether to adopt the guidance at surgeries in the region – with only a week left for people to record their views.
NICE guideline changes offer the CCG a variety of alterations that they are free to offer patients under their commissioning policy, providing they can find funds for the changes on their current budgets.
Dr Andrew Wilson, chair of NHS South Cheshire CCG, said: "We want to use what we have to improve our populations’ health as much as possible, but also to balance this with their individual needs.
“Some treatments are not automatically available; however, every patient or potential patient in South Cheshire can be assessed on their need for these treatments.
“We want people to tell us what is important to them and how they would like to see treatments and procedures delivered in future. This will help us get these procedures right.”
Patients and members of the public have the right to feed their views into the decision-making process. Feedback is needed by midday on Monday April 7.
