A HOTEL in Stow-on-the-Wold that had to shut down for a month following a fire has now re-opened.

The Porch House on Digbeth Street in Stow opened its doors again on Wednesday, April 16 after having to close for over a month.

The hotel restaurant was severely damaged in a fire which had started in the extractor fan of the cooker on Wednesday, March 5.

No-one was injured and everyone was evacuated safely.

Manager of the hotel James Rogers said everyone at The Porch House felt very pleased and excited to see the hotel back in business again so soon after the fire.

And he added the temporary closure had enabled them to bring some further improvements to the hotel.

He said: “With the kitchen being closed, it gave us the opportunity to develop the menu further and bring some new and exciting dishes to the dining room.”

The Porch House is known as England’s oldest inn, with parts of the building dating back to 947AD. Visit porch-house.co.uk/home for more.
